Fly, I am trying to fly
to leave it all behind.
You, you could heal my wounds.
I am trying to leave it all behind
to leave it.

You are the one who will keep me breathing
when all I have been is hurt by fairweather friends.

Lies, the world is full of lies
to lead me on.
I, I could fix my eyes.
Maybe this time I will fix my eyes
on you.

You are the one who will keep me breathing
when all I have been is hurt by fairweather friends.

Maybe this time
I could fix my eyes.
You are the one who will keep me breathing
when all I have been is hurt by fairweather friends.

You are the one who will keep me breathing
when all I have been is hurt by fairweather friends
fairweather friends
fairweather friends
fairweather friends.

General CommentI think this song talks about this guy liking a girl, but his friends don't agree with them 'seeing' each other. They 'ditch' him because they are seeing each other. But he doesn't care about those 'fairweather friends', he tries to 'leave them all behind'. Instead he turns his attention to her. 'Maybe this time i could fix my eyes on you'. i could relate to this song because a similar situation happened to me. Except my once fairweather friends now support me and it really helps. Great song and this is my first comment. :D thanks for the lyrics.

General Commentactually - this song refers to a relationship with God. it describes how as natural-born sinners, when we receive Christ, we try to leave our old life behind.."Fly, I am trying to fly to leave it all behind. You, you could heal my wounds. I am trying to leave it all behind, to leave it.." Jesus Christ is the only one who can heal our spiritual wounds & change our lives..but the entire point of this song is that we have been deceived, both with lies & by people that claim to be here to help us, but in the end only end up hurting us. "fairweather friends"..they come idly by here & there, but they're never really there for us the way Christ is - He is the ultimate friend. "..I, I could fix my eyes. Maybe this time I will fix my eyes on you.." Sometimes we think that we have to be the ones to conform to the ways of this world, the way society thinks we should behave, but the Bible tells us to do the complete opposite! So now maybe instead of conforming to what my "fairweather friends" want me to be, maybe I'll finally consider what the King of Kings, my Healer, my Savior, the Lord of my Life wants me to be... I'll stop worrying about the things around me & focus on Him for a change..after all, He's the only One who's ALWAYS been there.

General CommentGah, those, "will"s should be "could"/"can", depending on where in the song it is...
This song's meaning is quite simple. It's about someone who has been hurt here on earth by its people. The Lord is the only one who can help this person (which they're learning is true).
People come and go, but the Lord is forever
