"water's edge" as written by Caleb D Pepp, Allan Scott Goffinski, Kevin Thomas Snider, Nicholas Dustin Coleman and Kerri Pepp....
I'm at the water's edge and I'm gearing closer
This is where I will be, where you can find me
My shadow's kissing secrets, my heart's in agony
I never meant to make you cry, love come back to me

Troubled boy I'll kiss you one
Last time and then say goodnight forever
But little girl, I'm not feeling well
These nights are long enough without you
Who sends letters through the mail
Stop it, keep calling my name

I'm fine left alone
Change the lies, you took the pictures of the wall
Stringing along like a beautiful love song

Carolina, Carolina, Carolina, Carolina

Now that I have you, may I use you as a muse
And keep you up all night
With trading stories of whispering love

All I want, all I need
All I want, is to be, ohh
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do
Do, do, do, do, do, do, ohh

I'm sending letters through the mail
Accepting cherries at the table
Change the locks, took the pictures of the wall
Stringing along like a beautiful love song

General Commentthe last verse is this:
who's sending letters through the mail
who's empty chair is at the table
    who changed the locks,
who took the pictures off the walls
stringing along like a beautiful love song

General CommentThis song is really beautiful.

It's kinda ovbious. The boy did something to hurt the girl. and he feels really guilty. He wants her back and she doesnt know how sorry he is. He is still in love with her and she is most likey still in love with him. He remembers all the fun memories he had with her and doesnt want to let go of her or the memories.

General Commentwhen he says "my heart's in agony" and "i never meant to make u cry" maybe he means that he lost the girl without even realizing it and now he feels guilty and shocked..maybe he never told her he loved her....the only part that confuses me is when he says "now that i have u" cause how can he have her since he just lost her? maybe he feels that now that he finally told her how he really feels he is going to have her back... dunno;p

General Commentthis is the first song i heard by 1997... i went to warped tour and decided to check out their set even though i only knew one song. it was the best decision of the day. 1997 is amazing live.

General Commentwow these lyrics are really wrong. the right ones are (or so I think):

troubled boy i'll kiss you one
last time and then say goodnight forever
little girl, i'm not feeling well
these nights are long and dull
    without you
who is sending letters through the mail
stop it quit calling my name
who's empty chair is at the table?
it's mine, I left it alone
who changed the locks who took the pictures of the wall?
string me along like a beautiful love song.

and for those of you who say you can't find the songs, buy the album. it's worth it.
