"Elvis ain't dead" as written by and Roy Neville Francis Stride....
When I was young
I never knew
What this thing called love
Could do to you
But since you been gone
And I've been on my own
I've been feeling quite peculiar
But I'll get by without your smile
I'll get through without you

But I wish it was me you chose
I wish it was me you chose
I wish it was me you chose
I wish it was me you chose
Cause Elvis ain't dead
And you're coming back
And Elvis ain't dead
And you're coming back
Oh

Since you been gone
I can do what I like
But it doesn't mean a lot to me
I'm all shook up
And I'm lonesome tonight
I think I need a lot of lobotomy
But I'll get by without your smile
I'll get through without you

But I wish it was me you chose
I wish it was me you chose
I wish it was me you chose
I wish it was me you chose
Cause Elvis ain't dead
And you're coming back
Cause Elvis ain't dead
And you're coming back
Oh no, Oh no, Oh no

You
Me
Maybe we we're never meant to be
[2x]

Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
Cause I heard him on the radio

Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
And you're coming back to me I know

Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
Yes I heard him on the radio

Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead

Me you chose
I wish it was me you chose
I wish it was me you chose
Cause Elvis ain't dead
And you're coming back
And Elvis ain't dead
And you're coming back

And Elvis ain't dead
And Elvis ain't dead
And Elvis ain't dead
And Elvis ain't dead

Elvis has left the building
Thank you and good night

General CommentI quite like the "I'll get by without your smile, I'll get through without you, but I wish it was me you chose" it's not a ridiculous 'I'll never be the same without you my life is over' song it's just how nice it would be if they were together but c'est la vie.

That's how I see it anyway...

General CommentThe meaning of this is pretty obvious. Girl and guy are going out, girl falls in love with other guy and has to make a decision between guy number 1 and guy number 2. She chooses guy number 2 and guy number 1 stays behind feeling heartbroken and still believing she'll come back to him.

    "Elvis isn't dead
And you're coming back to me I know"

Methaphorical way of saying 'I believe you are coming back to me cause I also believe Elvis isnt dead, but I know damn good he is'. He's comparing her coming back to him with Elvis being alive: it is impossible.

I know Scouting For Girls don't exactly have songs in which every word is a metaphor for a deeper meaning of the lyrics, but that's what I like about them. They are very straight forward and you can just sing along and actually UNDERSTAND what you're singing along to.

General Commentthis is my favorite song by them
and i kind of agree with the person above but i believe that the
    "Elvis isn't dead
And you're coming back to me I know"
part is because people dont really know if he is or not
and there is always a slight chance that he might be alive cause some people think his death was a hoax or whatever .
so he thinks that if he keeps an open mind she might come back to him.
and comparing it to elvis because the truth is, chances are hes dead, and the chance is she wont come back to him

sorry if that didnt make sence xD

General CommentI definitely agree with the above meanings and I totally love this song. I also agree with urecutewhenuscream, scouting for the girls are pretty straight to the point with their lyrical meanings, which is what is what makes them really good but at the same time it's not cheesy.

General CommentI think this is a song whereby he tries to deny the facts about someone he loves/loved being with someone else, to convince himself that they aren't true. He seems to have done the same thing to deal with the issue of Elvis' death, to convince himself that's not true either.

General Commenti agree with everyone, and the end, where it says elvis has left the building, is the guy realising that she isnt coming back to him methinks. cool tune, far less annoying than the last single

    General Commentthis is lame but

    You
    Me
Maybe we we're never meant to be

it's "we were" not "we we're"

    agh!

but yes, lovely song, i heard it on the radio this morning and it made me smile, strange

General Commenteveryone knows elvis is dead, but i think the song is about the fact that his spirit as such, lives on. ''Elvis isn't dead
cause I heard him on the radio''. i think it relates to his situation, she's gone but if the spirit lives on then not all hope is lost!
