"Kindly Unspoken" as written by and Kate Elizabeth Voegele....
As high as the moon
So high were my spirits
When you sang out my name
And coming from you
It was enough just to hear it
Oh, it rang like the bells did today
But even the sturdiest ground
Can shift and can tremble and let us fall down?
Kindly unspoken
You show your emotion
And silence speaks louder than words
It's lucky I'm clever
Cause if I didn't know better
I'd believe only that which I'd heard
In the days of my folly
I followed your rules
Did what Simon Says to do
But I won't let melancholy
Play me for a fool
Oh, no I'm on my way somewhere new
And as far as your lack of something to say
Well, to tell me goodbye there was no better way
Kindly unspoken
You show your emotion
And silence speaks louder than words
It's lucky I'm clever
Cause if I didn't know better
I'd believe only that which I'd heard
So don't keep me up till the dawn
With words that'll keep leading me on
I know much better than to wait for an answer from you
Kindly unspoken
You show your emotion
And silence speaks louder than words
It's lucky I'm clever
Cause if I didn't know better
I'd believe only that which I'd heard
So high were my spirits
When you sang out my name
And coming from you
It was enough just to hear it
Oh, it rang like the bells did today
But even the sturdiest ground
Can shift and can tremble and let us fall down?
Kindly unspoken
You show your emotion
And silence speaks louder than words
It's lucky I'm clever
Cause if I didn't know better
I'd believe only that which I'd heard
In the days of my folly
I followed your rules
Did what Simon Says to do
But I won't let melancholy
Play me for a fool
Oh, no I'm on my way somewhere new
And as far as your lack of something to say
Well, to tell me goodbye there was no better way

It think it's about how emotions don't need words at some moments, and certainly not by the one that end with goodbye ... most of the time is everything but words the best way to show your emotion ...
to me, someone has just called it quits with her, or at least tried to. but they just couldnt say it. but you know when just by someones silence you can tell what they mean? thats what this is about. you dont need them to say, if they do it will hurt even worse. hence why the words are 'kindly' unspoken.
long story short;
sometimes when you have those kind of awkward but not really moments with someone.. like right before a break up.. and you just know... they give you that look and you just KNOW that it's coming .. "I think we should just be friends" and your thinking to your self.. holy shit.. lol.. yeah ... that's the holy shit put into a classier form of song. lol..
:]
This song is well written and she sang it well. =]
When someone is breaking up with you or giving you bad news,
the things that they're NOT saying
(but you know they are thinking them) are what hurts the most.
"It's lucky I'm clever
if I didn't know better
I'd believe only that which I'd heard"
She knows what he means to say, and she can read between the lines.
It's a nice phrase, "kindly unspoken," the things that are too hurtful to
say to someone that you once, or still do care for.
