For your futures sake,
I’ve got advice I’d advise you to take
Don’t keep betting,
“well, its gotta light me up sometime”
You lost your turn
“All I wanted to be was one of your children”
See how clean the water is where you are,
wash off your handcuffs
And know the hidden messages you hear,
they aren’t real.
You tricked your mind to feel.
“All I wanted to be was one of your children”
Are we even now? We are unrelated
If blood is thicker than water
Then you’ll drown quicker than we intended,
And you’ll know where you can find us in the end
So we can begin again.

Hmm. Thats not at all how I follow this song. Ready?

This song is about realizing god doesnt exist. Its not about the new testiment, unless it is by saying its not true. Lemme explain.

"For your futures sake...I've got some advice i'd advise you to take...dont keep betting well its gotta light me up sometime" --- that is refering to religion. You cant keep betting that its going to make you a better person or something by you attending. You lost your turn.

"All I wanted to be was one of your children" one of the biggest give aways...because even though he realizes god doesn't exist he always wanted him to...he wanted to believe he would be one of his children...but he has come to terms with the fact that he cannot be a child to a unexisting father.

Some other lines to support my theory.

"Wash Off Your Handcuffs" Reference to religion/beliving in god. Being "tied down" to the religion.

"Know the hidden messages you hear, they arent real, you tricked you mind to feel" --- BEST LINE EVER. That is in part the reason I myself am not religious. here they explain to you that "faith" is nothing more then you tricking your mind to feel something that isnt there. So you have purpose to your life. BRILLIANT LINE.

"We are unrelated" -- meaning we are not gods children. Since god says we're all related, we're all from adam and eve.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
