I'm leaving this morning for the sea,
With the ring in hand and the waves under my feet.
I plan on asking for her hand,
And if she says no then i would understand.

No, no.

I wanted to love you in all of the right ways,
But i fear i'm holding something i can't change.

Cause, when you're around me
I feel most like myself.

After nail-biting over writing down
Of my words, i feel i can't be loved and i should turn back now.
Ah well, oh well, i'm done.
No, i can't be done i can't be done,
i won't do this to myself.

Just know,
I wanted to love you in all of the right ways,
But i fear i'm holding something i can't change.

Can you see through my own lies?
Can you see through my own lies?
Can you help me realize
Without you i'm lost?

And when you're around me
I feel most like myself.

I feel most like myself
When i'm with you.
Only you (6X)

I always...

I wanted to love you.

General CommentThis is such a lovely folksy song. Pretty self-explainatory.

He loves this girl, and wants to take her down to the romantic Baltic (an area in reference to the Baltic Sea, with the surrounding countries of Sweden, Finland, Germany, Poland, and Russia- just to name a few.) to marry her, but he is asking himself questions about the condition of their relationship.

He references that he is holding something from her, and while it isn't really clear as to what those things are, it's clear that these issues threaten to ruin the relationship.

"after nail-biting over writing down" to "i wont do this to myself- He seems to have written her his proposal, and he is nervous about it. so nervous he kinda starts talking to himself stating that he is finished- this wont work. But he loves her, and he (or their relationship) just cant be done. "i wont do this to myself" implies that he can't keep beating himself up.

then he switches thoughts, "Just know, i wanted to love you in all of the right ways." It sounds like he just made some really poor decisions, and wishes he could take them back- but he can't. Now, it's kinda up to her.

i love this song, it's very real and genuine, and i like not knowing exactly what that couples issues are. It's kinda like walking on a beach, and passing by a guy who is really stressing this decision- and overhearing him talking to himself.

Anyways, i hope Red Fox goes far, this is truly a beautiful song.
