Always got one foot out the door
(Where you going?)
It's making it so hard to say
(Goodbye)
It's making it so hard to say
(Goodbye)

Only kissing me when she's not around
(And when he's not around)
You should stay, baby
One more night

Here we go, again
(I'm writing a note)
Making new plans
(I'm calling your name)
Changing seasons
(I'm wearing your clothes)
Holding new hands
(I'm wearing the pain)
Blue skies follow
(Standing alone)
Every footstep
(Step, stumble away)
I'm still waiting
(Not a word that I wrote)
Hoping I'm not wrong
(Not a thing that I said)

Second to the second
Oh, oh, oh
I'm sitting in a parking lot and where is god
I need someone to take the pain away

Always got one foot out the door
(Where you going?)
It's making it so hard to say
(Goodbye)
It's making it so hard to say
(Goodbye)

Only kissing me when she's not around
(And when he's not around)
You should stay, baby
One more night

Let your hair fall
(I'm writing a note)
Just like water
(I'm calling your name)
Come together
(I'm wearing your clothes)
Love each other
(I'm wearing your pain)
Work it all out
(Fighting the cold)
Soak it all in
(I'm getting caught in the rain)
Trust your instincts
(Not a word that I wrote)
Joy is waiting
(Not a note that I say)

Second to the second
Oh, oh, oh
I'm sitting in a parking lot and where is god
I need someone to take the pain away

Always got one foot out the door
(Where you going?)
It's making it so hard to say
(Goodbye)
It's making it so hard to say
(Goodbye)

Only kissing me when she's not around
(And when he's not around)
You should stay, baby
One more night

Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye

I swear I saw that sparkle in your eye
The last time you cried, the last time you cried

I swear I saw that sparkle in your eye
The last time you cried, the last time you cried

Always got one foot out the door
(Where you going?)
It's making it so hard to say
(Goodbye)
It's making it so hard to say
(Goodbye)

Only kissing me when she's not around
(And when he's not around)
You should stay, baby
You should stay
You should stay, baby
One more night

i love this song too, it's one of their best songs. "it's making it so hard to say goodbye...", perhaps another song about an ex?

Yeah it does seem like one about an ex Maybe about how one of them was trying to get out of the relationship, and sort of half-succeeding ("always got one foot out the door, where you going?) But they always got pulled back into the relationship somehow.

I'm not sure about this one but what do you think about the lyrics: 'only kissing me when she's gone (and when he's not around)'

    maybe an affair?? I dunno.

Yeah, I got the sense of an affair too.

"Always got one foot out the door (where you going?)"--

The cheater has to leave their lover to go back to their significant other or something...

"It's making it so hard to say (goodbye)"--

The lover doesn't want the cheater to leave and quite possibly resents the significant other for the official relationship they share with the cheater.

"Only kissing me when she's gone (and when he's not around) You should stay, baby, one more night"--

Pretty self-explanatory; they can only be together when the cheater's significant other isn't around and the lover wishes the cheater could stay with them longer/more often.

I feel as if the verses relate to an ex though, like the current cheater and lover used to be in a relationship but that ended and they still have feelings for each other. Now the cheater has moved onto a different relationship, but (obviously) revisits the old relationship he/she had with the lover. And perhaps the lover is trying to convince the cheater to just give in to temptation and let them be together again--hence all the "let your hair fall/just like water" and "trust your instincts/joy is waiting" lines. The "I'm wearing your clothes/I'm wearing the pain" lines suggest that the speaker hasn't been able to let go of the previous relationship yet.

There are a couple of other lines that could relate back to this too. I don't know; it's just what I got from the lyrics. :]

It's funny though, because sometimes I hear "you should stay baby, one more night" and other times I hear "you should stay with me, one more night." Not much of a huge difference meaning-wise, but I feel like the latter is much more intimate. Either way, I absolutely love this song and the way 1997 does the layering of vocals in their songs; it's great. :]

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
