"Hey Ya (cover)" as written by and Andre Benjamin....
My baby don't mess around
Because she loves me so
And this I know for sure

But does she really wanna
But can't stand to see me
Walk out the door

I can't stand to fight the feeling
'Cause the thought alone
Is killing me right now

I thank god for mom and dad
For sticking two together
'Cause we don't know how

Hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya

You think you got it
Oh you think you got it
But got it just don't get it
Till there's nothing at all

We get together
Oh we get together
But separate's always better
When there's feelings involved

If what they say that
"Nothing is forever"
Then what makes, then what makes, then what makes
Love the exception

So why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh
Are we so in denial
When we know we're not happy here

Hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya

Now alright now fellas
Oh what's cooler than being cool
I can't hear ya oh no
I said what's cooler than being cool

And alright alright alright alright
Alright alright alright alright alright
Alright alright
Alright now ladies

We're gonna break it down in just a few seconds here
Don't make me break it down for nothing
I wanna se ya all on your all's baddest behavior

I say lend me some sugar
I am your neighbor

Shake it
Shake shake shake it
Shake shake shake it
Shake shake shake it shake it shake it
Shake shake shake it like a Polaroid
Shake it
Shake shake shake it
Shake shake shake it
Shake shake shake it shake it shake it
Shake shake shake it like a Polaroid picture now
Shake it
Oh no shake it
Shake shake shake it shake it shake it
Shake shake shake it like a Polaroid picture now
Shake it
I say shake it
Shake shake shake it shake it
Oh no shake it up and shake it up

And hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya
Whoah no hey ya
Hey ya
Whoah no hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya
Hey ya

General CommentIm a fan of Andre 3000 (not so much Outkast, but Andre is truly talented) and what i find really interesting is that in the original Andre says:

"Y'all don't want me here you just wanna dance"

Meaning that no one really cares about what he was trying to say in the song.... until Mat Weddle did this cover. I think reason this cover is so brilliant is because Andre 3000 is a genius. Great song.

General CommentI LOVE THIS COVER. The way Mat sings these lyrics, it makes it sound like he wrote it, or it was written as a acoustic song. It really shows how Andre of Outkast is a really talented writer. Mat brings so much feeling to the lyrics.

The way he sings "hey ya"...i melt.

General CommentThis song is fucking amazing alright!
OutKast did great with this song but
Obadiah Parker(Mat Weddle) definitely perfected the song
I can't stop listening to it!
two people stay together even though people say they shouldnt
here are some songmeanings that i have gathered from other people
and that were really useful for me to understand a lil more about the song

*"Thank god for mom and dad For sticking two together 'Cause we don't know how" =
nowadays theres no true love*, couples dont stay together forever,
unlike back in the day. be like mom and dad and try to stick it through together!
    long relationships CAN happen!!!

*"you think you've got it, but got it just don't get it when there's nothing at all to get" =
To me, it's about the bittersweet side of love, it's great to be in love
but sometimes it just doesn't work out

    *It's about accepting change
"People say that nothing lasts forever, what makes love an exception?" and acting upon it.

*I think he knows that the relationship is doomed,
and it must be ended before it hurts them both
("separate's always better when there's feelings involved").
He is after all, just being honest.

*"y'all don't want to hear me, y'all just want to dance" = let's LIVE, move foward

There's meaning to "What's COOLER THAN BEING COOL" "ICE COLD"
It's about how love has become completely degraded today.
We confuse sex for love, and we don't have real feelings.
It's "cool" to NOT SHOW EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT.
    It's cooler than being cool.
Be ice cold, completely emotionally unattached, cuz being a player is way more idealized than being a cool person with a steady girlfriend or boyfriend.
All love is today is women showing off our goodies and men idealizing gettin some

I thank all those people who wrote these meanings
    peace out

General CommentYeah, I agree. Nobody recognizes the song's lyrics until he sings it. When I heard it I was like wow, this is actually saying something. I love this:

"If what the say is "nothing is forever." Then what makes love the exception?"

    great song.
