"Close Your Eyes" as written by and Juliana Hatfield....
You told me who you were
But I guess I never heard
You thought it treason

'til I saw you from the floor
Running out the door
You had your reasons

but don't close your eyes
'cause you might need them now
But don't close your eyes
You might need them now

well, I pulled you off the fence
To see the consequence;
We didn't dream it

then I looked into your eyes
But you hid in a disguise
I'd never seen it

but don't close your eyes
'cause you might need them now
Don't close your eyes
Don't close your eyes
Yeah, yeah

baby, you were my baby
I put my writing on the wall but you never read at all
Maybe, only maybe if I run into the sea
You can watch me stop to breathe and feel...

I rose up from a dream to a nightmare from a scene of a motion picture
The rocks began to slide and everybody died in just a flicker

so don't close your eyes
'cause you might need them now
Don't close your eyes
Don't close your eyes
Hey-yeah

baby, you were my baby
I put my writing on the wall but you never read at all
Maybe, only maybe if I run into the sea
You can watch me stop to breathe and feel...

I still see it on your mind but that will pass in time 'cause time will heal it

so don't close your eyes
'cause you might need them now
Don't close your eyes
You might need them now.

General Commentok, so i'm sorry, but i don't know what this song means, but i do get that it's beautiful and painful. about a relationship where maybe communication "but you never read at all", and possibly drugs "i saw you from the floor", were a problem.

haven't figured out "don't close your eyes
cause you might need them now" means. maybe he did throw himself into the ocean and now she'll need to see him, to identify the body. that finally she'll pay attention, when it's already too late.

(it all sounds really dramatic, but there's that line "i rose up from a dream to a nightmare from a scene of a motion picture" that makes me think it's supposed to be really melodramatic.)

    that's just my take.

what? not more posts? this is a quality song. wow.

General CommentI agree with the fact it is about a bad relationship. To me, the Don't Close Your Eyes might be about suicide and trying to prevent it. That's just what I get out of it.
