"Garden of Evil" as written by Caleb D Pepp, Allan Scott Goffinski, Kevin Thomas Snider, Nicholas Dustin Coleman and Kerri Pepp....
I ran through the garden of evil
Trace your steps I saw it all
Did he hold your hands the way you prefer?
Did he ask you like I asked you our first time?

Turn the light off
I don't wanna see myself doing this
I just wanna love you
I just wanna love you as much as he did

I ran through the garden of evil
Take some steps, I pull away
Why am I running if he keeps slowing?
So I hesitate

Oh, is this really what you want from me?
(Oh, is this really what you want from me?)
Oh, is this really what you want from me?

Turn the light off
I don't wanna see myself doing this
I just wanna love you
I just wanna love you as much as he did

And maybe this time, we can do it right
So I say, close your eyes and maybe this time
We can do it right, so I say, close your eyes
And take your time, don't be afraid

I fell into a wishing well
So that's where I've been drinking
Turns out it drove into the ground
So much for wishful thinking

I fell into a wishing well
So that's where I've been drinking
Turns out it drove into the ground
So much for wishful thinking

Is this really what you want from me?
I fell into a wishing well, so that's what I've been drinking
Is this really what you want from me?
I fell into a wishing well, so that's what I've been drinking

Turn the lights on
Pick me up and carry me away from this
I don't want you to love me
I don't want you to love me just like they did

And maybe this time we can do it right
So I say, close your eyes
And maybe this time we can do it right
So I say, close your eyes, take your time don't be afraid

General Commenti relate to this song a lot right now. but i think i might be interpreting this a little differently than everyone else.

to me it is about falling in love with your ex again. and as much as you can't help it, you don't want to do this to yourself. again.

you are curious about the people they have been with since your breakup.

and you are hoping they still feel the same way about you.

and if you get this second chance, maybe it will work out much better this time.

General CommentI love how the boy and girl are singing parts in this song. I think its talking about how he just wants to love her as much as her last boyfriend did.

General Comment21stars. I think you are right. You have the best meaning for the song. That last comment that I wrote, I think I wasn't thinking that much about it and after reading the lyrics again, I think your interpretation is the best one.

General Commenta) I worked with Nick Coleman, the drummer, at Blick Art Materials in Schaumburg, IL. b) He's awesome. and c) 1997 is awesome.

Exactly what 21stars said. The male lead is still in love with his ex, wondering if her new beau or beaus treated her as well as he did, or as well as he thought he did. She however can't find any guy who treated her as well, or is even going to take the relationship seriously. Again, everything 21stars said.

The lyrics in the version I have are different, since it's the original demo version from the CD that was played on repeat in our store. :D

General CommentThough I agree with 21stars, I think the parts that are talking about turning the lights off/on are maybe sexual. Not in a perverted way, but as in this ex that he is still in love with was his first, or at least the first that meant anything to him, and having sexual relations with anyone else feels strange.

I'm not sure if I explained what was on my mind right, but, uhh, I think you get it :]

General Commenti completely agree w/ you guys.
but just to throw it out there,
i was thinking abt it in terms of
    fixing a relationship after cheating
anyone think of it that way?
