I'm runnin' water through,
I'm runnin' water through my mind

Nothing but shops and roads
to go to roads in America
Alls been forgot, and it's easy
when you try and remember everything you've come across

Can't turn nothin' off for the fear
that you'll be alone with your own thoughts

I'm runnin' water through,
I'm runnin' water through my mind

Nothing but shops and roads
to go to roads in America
Alls been forgot, and it's easy
when you try and remember everything you've come across

Can't turn nothin' off for the fear
that you'll be alone with your own thoughts

"It was grey and there was no sun," she said
She said she liked it when you spoke(d) in Spanish,
then marched upstairs

It was grey and it felt flat
She said it was me feelin' flat
I said, "Why don't you speak in Spanish?

General CommentWhat I think this song is about is most likely wrong, but i'll give it a shot.
anyhow, so the guy is simply trying to forget everything, and change his ways "i'm runnin' water through my mind"

and the whole deal with the girl and speaking spanish is due to the fact that she misses the man he used to be.
and he makes a smart remark, "why don't you speak in spanish?"
to reflect it back at her.
