"The Information" as written by and Hansen....
Aaah

The information is laughing at us
The ticker tape feeds the night
Looking for a lost transmission
A heaven that we left behind

When the information comes
We'll know what we're made from
And the skyline rising
High rise eyes see through you

Say hello to a mannequin
The ghost of an automaton
The witching hour is summoning up
Armies where they don't belong

When the information comes
We'll know what we're made from
And the skyline rising
High rise eyes see through you

She's the sister of avarice
The wife of a poisonous tide
She's the eye of a battle of storms
That sees where the atoms collide

When the information comes
We'll know what we're made from
And the skyline rising
Highrise eyes see through you

General CommentOops, I posted the wrong lyrics. Sorry! Here's the correct version.

The information is laughing at us
The ticker tape feeds the mind
    Looking for a lost transmission
A heaven that we left behind
    When the information comes
We'll know what we're made from
    And the skyline rising
    Highrise eyes see through you

    Say hello to a mannequin
    The ghost of an automaton
    The witching hour summoned
    Armies in a desert sun

    When the information comes
We'll know what we're made from
    The skyline rising
    Highrise eyes see through you

    She's the sister of avarice
A wife of a poisonous tide
She's the eye of a battle of storms
She sees where the atoms collide
    When the information comes
We'll know what we're made from
    The skyline rising
    Highrise eyes see through you

General CommentWhen I first heard this song i was like wow this drum beat reminds me a lot of ladytron's witching hour album. Then I heard him say the words skyline and highrise and i was like!... Then he said witching hour and i was like wow this must be some type of tribute to that. So basically, I think it might be some type of tribute to them. :)

General CommentDoes this song ever remind you of scientology? Or is it just me?

General CommentI heard this song (as well as a great part of the album) is about the theme of how communications (facebook, text messages, cell phones, etc.) have fragmented our lives and that instead of making us come closer together ... has done the opposite. More information does not necessarily mean that people are coming closer together. Technology is getting in the way of emotional intimacy and understanding.

My OpinionI love Beck and this album, but trying to come up with some kind of meaningful interpretation for his songs seems rather impossible.
