My pitiful sorrows have seen more tomorrows than yours
My rain really pours
At least more than yours
At least more than yours

In the depths of my sadness there's a beautiful madness you see
It's right here on my sleeve
You must not believe
I can see you just don't believe

So I really have to say it's all just so romantic
Cause I've seen the others try and they just seem pedantic

Cause when it comes to misery
When it comes to misery
When it comes to misery
No one competes with me

My sweeping emotions have spanned the great oceans
From this fifty foot wave I just can't be saved
O don't even try
I can't be saved

My pitiful sorrows have seen more tomorrows than yours
My rain really pours
At least more than yours
At least more than yours

So I really have to say it's all just so romantic
Cause I've seen the others try and they just seem pedantic

Cause when it comes to misery
When it comes to misery
When it comes to misery
No one competes with me

General CommentIt's clear that the time has come for me to buy the Fingerlings cds. They are the only Andrew Bird songs that I don't know, and clearly I'm missing out.

That said, I think this song was perfectly humorous without having heard it sung. It's just funny because I know exactly those kinds of people that just have to be worse off than you. Who cares if you have troubles too, theirs are worse, so don't complain.
haha, he always sings the truth.

General CommentIt's a tribute by Bird (he says) to the goths of his high school and their "sense of competition as to who was the most miserable." Totally hilarious.

General CommentVoltanEchoes' comment on Heretics (relating to suicide as an excuse to get attention) reminded me of this song, and I was surprised to not find it posted here. The lyrics don't read as humorous as they sound when sung.
