"Declare Independence" as written by Bjork Gudmundsdottir and Mark Bell....
Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you
Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you
(Justice)
Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you
Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you
(Justice)

Start your own currency
Make your own stamp
Protect your language
(Justice)

Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you
Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you

Make your own flag
Make your own flag
Make your own flag
Make your own flag

Raise your flag (higher, higher)
Raise your flag (higher, higher)
Raise your flag (higher, higher)
Raise your flag (higher, higher)
Raise your flag (higher, higher)
Raise your flag (higher, higher)

Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you

Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you

Damn colonists
Ignore their patronizing
Tear off their blindfolds
Open their eyes

Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you
Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you

With a flag and a trumpet
Go to the top of your highest mountain

And raise your flag (higher, higher)
Raise your flag (higher, higher)
Raise your flag (higher, higher)
Raise your flag (higher, higher)
Raise your flag (higher, higher)
Raise your flag (higher, higher)

Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you
Declare independence
Don't let them do that to you

Raise the flag

General Commentit is about you have to stand up for yourself and come independent and strong, don't let people run you over and love who you are, hence raising your flag, that is your identity. straightforward and great

General CommentYes, sorelips is correct. This song is basically dedicated to Greenland and the Farore Islands as sort of an inspirational tune to individualize themselves from the Danish.

But yes...this song is amazing. Very Pluto.

General CommentI agree with sorelips and Ryguy, but it also makes me feel the state of the world (i.e., Iraq, Bush Administration), and becoming independent/revolting against this New World Order that seems to be coming...something like the Mouth's Cradle lyric "I need a shelter to build an altar away from the Osamas and Bushes" Great song here though, pure Bjork. I'm going to see her this Saturday night in Chicago in 3rd row - can't wait!
