"Still Burning" as written by and Matthew Preston/kelly Slocum....
You are still burning
The flame that is turning
My smoldering ash into a bird
So stay close, my brother
I couldn't stand the loss
You are the bridge of action
I need you to help me cross
I need you to help me

[Chorus]
So when you break
My arms I'll take hold of you
I know your heart's
A hand that takes hold of me

My hand that is breaking
Is the hand that is making
All the dead things in me grow
A gift of a holy loss
This burning at the dross

[Chorus]

Why do you set out to break the one thing
The one thing that I have to give
It's hard to believe that I could
That I should begin again
But I know your heart is a hand

So when I break
Your arms you'll take hold of me
You know my heart's
A hand that takes hold of you
So when you break
My arms I'll take hold of you
I know your heart's
A hand that takes hold of me
So when you break
My arms I'll take hold of you
I know your heart's
A hand that takes hold of me

General Commentthis is my favorite sixpence song. i think it's talking about growing as a person and in the process being pushed into a new level of pain. sometimes when we try to grow into being who God made us we feel like we're being broken, like life itself is crashing down on you which is why i love the line "why do you set to break the one thing, the one thing i have to give". but in order to grow we have to broken to the core and reshaped. our old ideals and ways of thought are shifted, our souls are attacked, our hearts are broken, but in that brokeness is when we find we must hold tighter than God than ever...hold on for dear life and for sanity. we start all over from scratch and "begin again"

General CommentAlso, i love the first line, it reminds me of a phoenix that dies in flames and turns to ash and then is reborn, thus "my smoldering ash into a bird". it reminds me of the human spirit that must be attacked and burned before it can be reshaped and born again

General CommentSound's like it's about having someone to help you stand when you can't do it yourself, someone to help stand when they can't do it themself =]

General Commenti am some what sure that the song means that god is breaking her because he wants his followers to be committed and doesnt want them to be distracted.
