"Stay Away" as written by and Jarrod Gorbel....
Are you not the slightest bit confused?
Just the truth
The speed at which we move blends so well
It's too soon

Separate yourself from what compels you to relinquish us
Push your way on to me entirely
Stay away from me, stay away from me now
Unless you gonna see, unless you gonna see me out

No, I can't dance unless it's slow or sad
To a song that's far less obvious
You're using me, do it slowly
Make it last until I have to go

Trust me when I say just a few more weeks
Don't move
Resist temptation or do as you see fit?
Just choose

Separate yourself from what compels you to relinquish us
Push your way on to me entirely
Stay away from me and stay away from me now
Unless you gonna see, unless you gonna see me out

No, I can't dance unless it's slow or sad
To a song that's far less obvious
You're using me, do it slowly
Make it last until I have to go

No, I can't dance unless it's slow or sad
To a song that's far less obvious
You're using me, do it slowly
Make it last until I have to go

No, I can't dance unless it's slow or sad
To a song that's far less obvious
If you're using me do it slowly
Make it last until I have to go

Stay away from, stay away from
Stay away from me
Stay away from, stay away from
Stay away from me
Stay away from, stay away from me

General CommentIt's someone speaking to a love interest, basically saying he isn't ready to be in a relationship yet and he needs time to think. He is literally saying, "Stay away from me" until I am ready to be with you. He also gives the person he is talking to a choice, you can be faithful and wait for me to figure things out ("resist temptation"), or you can go ahead and see other people and move on. He is essentially telling the person he is not in the right state of mind right now to be with them, at this time he just can't do it, for whatever reason.

General Commenteh, i think it's more of that he's sick of playing games.

"Push your way on to me, entirely
Stay away from me, stay away from me now
Less you gonna see, less you gonna see me out"

to me, that's saying that i want you all the time or i don't want you at all.

General CommentI was just on The Honorary Title's site and Jarrod Gorbel wrote what "Stay Away" is about:

“about the romantic dynamic between two individuals when one person has more emotionally invested than the other,”

General CommentI could go and try to find some deep life meaning or philosophy, but I think it is pretty simple and clear. For this moment in time, just stay away. No one wants to deal with this person, a broken relationship (family, romantic, or friend)...fed up, back off, stay away.

General CommentThe first line made me think of religion. People in your family who truly believe what they do and practice it on a daily basis sometimes try to push that onto you. It's like, just give me this time to sin and live so I can learn, but I'll come to this eventually ("trust me when i say just a few more weeks"). And then it's finally like okay if you can't understand, stay away from me while I have to do this. Stay away now but not forever.

General Commenthis description makes sense, but i can't figure out exactly how the lyrics relate. i see it could be from the person who is less emotionally invested's point of view ("stay away from me"), but i can kind of see it kind of more from the other person's view ..who is more emotionally invested (saying to the person, "if you're using me, do it slowly" and saying "make it last" because they want the person to feel the same way.) i also kind of feel like the "i can't dance less it's slow or sad, to a song that’s far less obvious" is from the pov of someone less emotionally involved because they are saying they don't want to make it really obvious. idk though.

General CommentI love this song and can really relate. Take it from someone who knows, it sucks to be in that sort of position where you're more emotionally invested than the other person. I especially like the lines "You're using me, do it slowly. Make it last until I have to go" I mean I could be way off here, but, to me, those lines are saying "I'm not stupid, I know you don't feel the same and I'm just here so you can use me, but I do care and I don't want it to end." Again, I could be way off though.
