in one hand dreams a plenty
in her smile a secret spell
there have been disappointments
these she knows all too well

and you losing you
was not a part of this plan
so
jumps at three tears at thirteen
just turn you around for
eighteen wheels in a high heel
turn you around
sold a dream at twenty three
turn you around
hold out
you still got your secret spell

at the heart of the matter
someone wove a secret spell
mixed with girl not so peaceful
angel and animal

but me losing you
was not a part of this plan
so

jumps at three tears at thirteen
just turn you around for
eighteen wheels in a high heel

turn you around
sold a dream at twenty three
turn you around
hold out
you still got your secret spell

girl you got to do a 180
disappointment you know it well
but you losing you
was not a part of this plan
so

jumps at three tears at thirteen
just turn you around for
eighteen wheels in a high heel
turn you around
sold a dream at twenty three
turn you around
hold out
hold out
you still got your secret spell
girl you got to do a 180
'cause you still got your secret spell

General CommentI think this song is about resiliency - being able to turn around like an eighteen wheeler and go another direction - that metaphor says it all for me, "eighteen wheels in a high heel".

General CommentI'd have to disagree with dragonflydamsel.
Instead of thinking of 'wheels' as a noun, you have to see it as a verb.
The song is about a girl who has gone through her life, meeting disappointment after disappointment, but through it all maintaining her charm, and her glorious outlook on life. And the chorus goes through her life, marking the little milestones that make it.
Jumps at the age of three. Tears by thirteen, and when she turns eighteen, she discovers high heels, and her sensuality. By twenty three she had given up on most of her dreams of prince charming and love, but still keeps a small part with her secret spell.

    My InterpretationI agree.
Yet, the album seems based on Tarot.
Jumps at 3 = Empress. Tears at 13 = Death. 18(life)Wheels(10 of fortune). 'Turns' on heels at 18 (Moon) Life. Sold a dream at 23 (Illumination). Her characters are pagan archetypes so... I think she's fascinating.
    Not that I should care.

General CommentI think she's also discussing the external factors in life - it's not that she has affected her own life by doing detrimental things to her own psyche, but about other people crapping on her. Yet, the protagonist can still maintain a positive outlook on life because she has her 'secret spell', although Tori not letting us know what it is, per se...
