Comparisons are easily done
Once you've had a taste of perfection
Like an apple hanging from a tree
I picked the ripest one
I still got the seed

You said move on, where do I go?
I guess second best is all I will know

'Cause when I'm with him
I am thinking of you (thinking of you, thinking of you)
Thinking of you
What you would do if you were the one
Who was spending the night (spending the night, spending the night)
Oh I wish that I
Was looking into your eyes (eyes)

You're like an Indian summer in the middle of winter
Like a hard candy with a surprise center
How do I get better once I've had the best
You said, there's tons of fish in the water
So the waters I will test

He kissed my lips, I taste your mouth (I taste your mouth), oh
He pulled me in, I was disgusted with myself

'Cause when I'm with him
I am thinking of you (thinking of you, thinking of you)
Thinking of you
What you would do if you were the one
Who was spending the night (spending the night, spending the night)
Oh, I wish that I
Was looking into your

The best
And yes, I do regret
How I could let myself let you go
Now, now the lesson's learned
I touched it, I was burned
Oh, I think you should know

'Cause when I'm with him
I am thinking of you (thinking of you, thinking of you) (oh)
Thinking of you (oh)
What you would do if you were the one
Who was spending the night (spending the night, spending the night)
Oh, I wish that I
Was looking into your, your eyes

Looking into your eyes
Looking into your eyes
Oh, won't you walk through
And bust in the door and take me away
Oh, no more mistakes
'Cause in your eyes, I'd like to stay, stay

    I LOVE THIS SONG!!

i think its like...with a boy you were crazy inlove with but people changed...things ended..and you thought it was for the best. but nothing and no one can compare to how great it was. and everything leads back to that one person, all you can think is about them...

"Cause in your eyes I'd like to stay"

This song is just soooooo perfectly done. It's always about that one person that you keep coming back to. I mean even if you're in your different worlds already, the things you do together, the memories that make you go figure why it ended. Pretty much about your one and only great love.

i love this song its exactly what i would like to say to that one guy who never leaves my mind... even though im in a relationship there was one point in time where i had to choose between the two and everyday i think of how it could be if his eyes where the ones i looked into everyday and how i may have eneded up happier. i had him right in my arms and i just didnt think i guess and just let him go and even though were still close friends we never speak anymore and it makes me think about him even more... he lives farther away then my boyfriend know and i feel there are so many more things we have to say to each other but when i left his house one night i ran into the guy im with know and was with before him... and i just screwed up that night i guess... i do have them days of regret and when ide like to try to do anything to go and catch him off gaurd and see what happens we were really happy together and we could have been happier but things changed i wish i could just see how things would have turned out cause he never did anything to hurt me and i feel so bad for walking away when he thought he had ahold... and i did to but sence i let another back in he told me to just move on cause theres more then him out there and know everyday i regret coming home that night but things happen for a reason you know... theres thoughs nights i dream of him and you know they say everytime you dream of someone they are thinking of you.?.?.? well... i just hope thats true cause if so then he thinks of me as much as i think of him and that leaves a happeness in me that maybe someday in the future we will come back to eachother again and just start fresh again... in your eyes is where ide like to stay robert =]

I hadn't thought about the song in that way untill reading those comments...

To me it's about being unfaithful to my boyfriend.

We were fine and perfectly in love for over a year untill I went on holiday and met someone and cheated and now my boyfriend and I are on the rocks and all I can think of is the other guy whilst with him which is leading to our inevitable break up..

"Comparisons are easily done Once you've had a taste of perfection Like an apple handing from a tree I pick the ripest on i still got the seed"

Before we were fine now I keep comparing my boyfriend to him because he is more my 'taste of perfection'.

"You said move on Where do I go? I guess second best is all I will know"

The other guy has now told me that it cannot work for us due to distance and various other things, so second best; the boyfriend, is all I will know.

"Cause when I'm with him I am thinking of you, thinking of you What you would do if You were the one who was spending the night Oh, I wish that I was looking into your eyes"

Obvious.. just wishing it was him instead.

"You're like an Indian summer in the middle of winter Like a hard candy with a surprise center"

The fact he walked into my life when everything was going okay and suprised me by disrupting my normal relationship.

"How do I get better once I've had the best? You said there's tons of fish in the waters"

I feel that he is the one for me even though he does not and he also tries to convince me that I can move on from my boyfriend..

"He kissed my lips I taste your mouth He pulled me in, I was disgusted with myself"

Thinking of him all the time, and the disgust with myself as I think of being unfaithful to my boyfriend.

"The best, and oh, I do regret How could I let myself let you go? And now, now the lesson's learned I touched and I was burned"

Me not fighting for this other guy enough and letting him go. The 'lesson learned' and getting 'burned' is the fact that all the affair has caused is pain and suffering for everyone involved.

"Wont you walk through and Bust down the door and Take me away No more mistakes 'Cause in your eyes I'd like to stay"

Wishing that he would come and save me from the heartache whilst with anyone else. The 'mistakes' being the cheating.

ANYWAY, that's just a different perspective of the song from my personal POV.

amillionhearts: that's an interesting take on it. i think the only line that wouldn't really fit is the "You said there's tons of fish in the waters So the waters I will test" cause if you're still with the original boyfriend you're not really testing the waters but i think both your version and the version of no one being able to replace the ex both work very well with the song. And you're version sort of works wit the video with the blood on her hands, like she's done something wrong.

    Song Meaning

For me, this song is about a lost love that she wants to come back, but she doesn't have a chance because she already lost it. And then she have a new lover, but everytime she's with him she thinks of her true love, the one that she lost and she regrets that she let him go. She also uses similes and metaphors to describe how grateful and bad she felt when she remembers him. I don't know, but this song is very well written, and it makes me think of my first love too!

Every one is saying that in the video there's some other chick, and then the chick is with Katy and etc etc etc.

However, in the officially music video posted online by Capitol Music, there is only one girl: Katy. And she is only shown alone, or with one of two different guys. The scenes with the guy she loves are memories. The scenes in her bedroom with the other guy are about the guy who comes in second place in her heart. She just looks happier and such in the scenes that are memories.

So yeah, I don't know what you guys are watching, but that's the only video I've scene.

As for the meaning, I agree with most of the people her. There was someone she truly loved but somehow lost. So now, she's just getting together with other guys, but she doesn't truly love them. And she can't help but to compare them to the guy who she thought was perfect.

Its actually a really sad, beautiful song. :(

this song is about a love that was great and strong thatshe let go. they both know that it may be better for them to be apart. but she will always love him. and now that she has found someone else, she cannot get him off her mind. she knows that no one will ever be as great as that guy she loved.

    Great song.

    My Opinion

I think she's singing to a girl. Because:

a)If you watch the first video that was made, it's pretty obvious. b)Read youtasteofblood's comment.

But I guess it doesn't really matter, she's singing about her ex, whether he/she be deceased or maybe they just broke up, and she's now with someone new, either way she misses them.

"Comparisons are easily turned Once you've had a taste of perfection Like an apple hanging from a tree I picked the ripest one I still got the seed"

She was in love with a man who went off to war. There's no "comparison" with him and this new man, seeing as she's already "had a taste of perfection".

"You said move on Where do I go I guess second best Is all I will know"

Since he was going to war, he didn't want her to be just sitting at home worrying about him or waiting for him, especially if he didn't come back. So he told her to just move on with her life.

That's my take on it. Especially since it keeps flashing back to him being in the war and her having pictures of him on her dresser.

In the end, he ends up dying in war, and she's stuck with this man she's moved on with. She's having a lot of trouble moving on because she is so in love with this man at war that she was once with and all she wants to do is be with him. But she can never be with the man that she was in love with again.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
