"Brandy Alexander" as written by Leslie Feist and Ronald Eldon Sexsmith....
Though I'd like to be the girl for him
And cross the sea and land for him
On milky skin my tongue is sand until
The ever distant band begins to play

He's my Brandy Alexander
Always gets me into trouble
But that's another matter
Brandy Alexander

He's my Brandy Alexander
Always gets me into trouble
But that's another matter
Brandy Alexander

Though you know what I love most of him
I'm walking on needles and pins
My addiction to the worst of him
The low moon helps me sing

I'm his Brandy Alexander
Always get him into trouble
I hide that I'm flattered
Brandy Alexander

I'm his Brandy Alexander
Always get him into trouble
I hide that I'm flattered
Brandy Alexander

Goes down easy
It goes down easy
It goes down easy
It goes down easy
It goes down easy
It goes down easy
It goes down easy
It goes down easy

Brandy Alexander
Brandy Alexander
Brandy Alexander
Brandy Alexander

General Commenti really like this song and how simple the melody is.

I think it is about a girl who is terribley addicted to this boy. Her mouth is like sand until she can have a sip of him so to speak. She still loves him even though he gets her into trouble all the time. She also gets him into trouble, but she's happy that he chose her of all to get into trouble with. She's sort of addicted to him, and he to her, the way one might be addicted to brandy the drink, or any alcoholic beverage for that matter.

General Commentit's not a palahiuk reference.
chuck took brandy alexander's name from the cocktail.

brandy alexander is a cocktail made from brandy, dark creme de cacao, cream, and nutmeg. that's why the references in the song are to drinking.

General CommentAs someone who has a brandy alexander in their life, I feel very close to this song.
It means to me that she has a male friend that is infectious, the kind that she is addicted to spending time with just being herself and having him bring out the best in her. He gets her into trouble but she doesn't care because she's so taken by him and she hopes he with her, and even though she wants to be with him in a romantic way, they have something already that is so special, so unspokenly easy and right.
i also think that in the end of the song when the words brandy alexander escalate and fade out ,sounds like a prelude to a kiss, so i always picture a long awaited kiss at the end.

My InterpretationThe alcohol is a metaphor to a guy. Hes her brandy alexander. her addiction. shes in love with her best friend. Even though "he always gets me into trouble" shes attracted to it. And him to her, but she pretends it doesnt flatter her. They choose each other because "it goes down easy". They feel right together.

General CommentWhat I love best about this song is how she says the "der" at the end of some of the ALEXANDERS. I can't get over that. It breaks my heart!

I agree with aammiiee -- it's about a girl addicted to a boy. That's all it is! So simple, yet so great!

General CommentYeah, I caught the Invisible Monsters reference too. The character in the book is kind of a free spirit, regularly getting friends into trouble.
