Wait! There's something up ahead.
I've seen its claws I can see the marks it left.
Well fed and eating with a thousand hands.
This coma of factory and bars won't last
It's numbing power and it's never winding heart.
So climb what you can before it's gone
And always carry in your lungs
The prettiest voice from drowning as you drag this swamp
'Cause the smell will stay with you for so long
The past can only stretch for so long
The last can only stretch, so long so long so long
So we wait until it's overhead
Until the sky falls and the sun takes us all

General CommentGood hob. Nick's always tough to hear.

Kinda sounds like numbing power in the 2nd verse

General CommentThe * is my little comment on each line

    Wait! There's something up ahead.
*There is a big problem comming
I've seen its claws I can see the marks it left.
*i can see the damage its been but our relationship still exists
Well fed and eating with a thousand hands.
*Its good now and a lot of effort was put into it
This coma of factory and bars won't last
*All of the effort can't keep it going for too long
It's numbing power and it's never winding heart.
*The ability to ignore the problems and the heart will... keep going? like you won't have *to re wind it like a watch?
So climb what you can before it's gone
*Enjoy what we have before we lose it because apparently in the song he could lose it as he's been saying again and again
And always carry in your lungs
*Always keep what we had with you
The prettiest voice from drowning as you drag this swamp
*we have some beauty together even though we are drowning for example using a pretty voice for a charised memories with a loved one
'Cause the smell will stay with you for so long
*Comparing the relationship to scent which he wants her to keep
The past can only stretch for so long
*YOu can't hold on to the past forever so i guess they once had good times but now they don't and he needs the good times back
The last can only stretch, so long so long so long
    *Pushing the point with repetition
So we wait until it's overhead
*We will keep the relationship going untill the problems are really apparent
Until the sky falls and the sun takes us all
*Wow! This is a great form of symbolism to end it!
The Relationship is going to "crash and burn" and it will be horrible.

    This is a great song!
Woah i did a lot of explanation
I didn't get it but now that i wrote it all out i understand the song really well

General Commentline 1-5: the devil is up ahead and there are many people walking into his trap
line 6-8: this life that you know will end before you know it, so find all the answers you can
line 9-12: keep singing to god as you rid yourself of your sin, because the sin will stay with you for a very long time
line 13-14: the sin only sticks for so long though, before you know it, it will be gone.
line 15-16: so we choose to ignore god until the end of the world comes.

General CommentOkay i have to respectfully disagree with the interpretations of sin/god and a cliche relationship song.

I feel its more a reflection upon his own life. The something up ahead could be his future.
The coma of factories (his job/ working career) wont last as he strives for.. something.. be it success with his music or just an acceptance that it wont last as death is inevitable.
The latter part of the song reflects this further 'climb what you can' whilst you have the chance to and 'the smell stays' reflect how your decisions and choices shape your destiny.

I think overall its a song about hope, the future, optimism and inevitability.
I'd also agree slightly with the 'god' theory in the closing lines as they suggest maybe a defiance to believe or maybe its that in the end of his life he can accept this as a posibility..

Just thoughts though, should mean something different to everyone.
