You can't stop the race.
People moving in place.
Running a crooked path from place to place to place.
Paved in gold.
The chords from which we hang, weaken everyday.
They beg for strength, but they are blessed by our blade.
Questions on our minds.
Buildings on the rise
Diamonds, instead of our eyes and corporate fights.

O'busy, busy, bees walking to and from, what if we close our eyes?
What if we can't wake up?
I hope you all rest in peace.
I hope you find what your looking for.
But if that is all that you got, well, there's got to be more.

They lay carpet that's made of red and we walk paths made of gold but we are blind just past the nose in this tree covered earth.
Yes, that is right.
Can we disappear from all we got?
We are scattered on God's grace but we are a drip,
we are a flash,
we are a mist,
we are a speck,
but we got time.

General CommentThis is a great song about how if the only thing we are concerned with is being rich, having the coolest toys, and getting the hottest boys/girls, then we are living a futile life. As it states in the end of the song, we are just a drip in time compared to the ocean that is eternity. And if we spend all of our life searching and striving for goods that will dissappear with the end of our life, then we got troubles. Find something that is eternal, something that you will be remembered by and make that your purpose

General CommentYeah, that was right, also the orginal name of the song was Everish Presely, like of the unsung ep that had names that rymed with famous people. It was changed to match The Fiancee, but the line "what if we cant wake up" represents how Elvis lived a drug filled life and died from it.

General Commentxxcfl09: Actually, "And Shot Each Other" was a remake of Elvish Presley, and they added a Sacred Harp chorus for the 2nd part of the song

General Commentxxcfl09, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this song doesn't have anything to do with Elvis.

General Commenti agree with goody2sandals. the world we live in now is what they are talking about. we live greedy, selfish lives in which the only thing that matters for most are the material things that many men think compose they worth in this world. We have lost sight of the fact that we cannot take these material things with us when we leave this earth. We as humans need to take selfishness and turn it into selflessness. I think the beatitudes sum it up pretty well and are the message they are trying to convey in these lyrics...

"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

    Blsed are they who mourn,
    for they shall be comforted.

    Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they shall be satisfied.

    Blessed are the merciful,
    for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
    for they shall see God.

    Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
