So tired of this heavy load.
I've been carrying it for so long.
I don't know what it wants with me.
Lord please let me be.

Rolling dice on my hotel room bed.
"Man, it feels so nice to love some one" she said.
"Cause when the evening comes I'm scared to be bad all by myself."
And I know exactly how it feels to be by myself.

And now she's singing,
"Happiness always scared me half to death.
Never had myself no lovin' to caress."
Little darling stop those tears and dry those eyes, I'm a be right here.
And I'd really love to stay tonight, if you'll have me here.

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Little girl you know I love you so.
Let's take it easy now and simmer down.
Little girl, let's take the long way home.

i don't think that's right at all. if he's masturbating by himself then why does it say "Man, it feels so nice to love some one she said" ? there's obviously a girl there with him and by rolling the dice he is taking a chance at the love with probably a random girl because of how scared he is to sleep alone. the heavy load is just his emotional baggage that he needs to get over.

i'm not strongly against seeing sexual undertones in a song, i just don't think this song has any, or atleast not any perverted ones like that.

Cause when the evening comes I'm scared to be THERE by myself I think. Wicked song. Wicked band.

The rolling dice part clearly means jerking off. Why would you roll dice on a bed? You wouldn't, and he's not. For anyone who isn't making the connection, close your eyes and pretend like you're rolling dice, withouth actually casting them. Now open your eyes and realize the motion you're making. Moreover, its a hotel bed, and lonely hotel rooms are prime masturbation spots

PS, two-handed rolling won't work with this exercise. And, this is more of a stretch of the imagination, but as a continuation of that little image, the first line about a heavy 'load' that he's been carrying for too long... it fits, in my perverted little mind anyway

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
