i got a feeling she keeps me in the dark
i gotta keep my eye on her
she ain't no walk in the park
i want but this but she want that
she she she want it all
you see she want it to paint the picture
and say she my broad
i gotta a little tip from the word on the block
people sayin i shouldn't get involved
but i didn't judge her try to change her
cuz you are who you are
i'm like the drug
shes addicted to me
she cant leave me now
shes always making plans
today come and find me tomorrow
goodbye girl

she's still invested in the hours that passed her by
id pay attention if i thought it was worth the time
i tell her easy but her hands, they find a way
confusing passion for the love he never gave
fall back on reasons that we know wont stand a chance
watching her shoulders like a memory from the past
i tell her easy but her hands, they find a way
confusing passion for the love he never gave

i couldn't if real with shorty if i wanted
cuz she was down
but i was tired of playing the role
like i ain't know that she get around
something bout this girl fascinates me
shes the type that like to hang with the stars
the way she makes me feel and sedates me
who knew we would take it this far
everywhere that i try to go
she gotta wanna poster put my face on it
soon as i walk out the door
there it is wanna poster put my face on it
cant blame myself when its not my fault
cuz nothing is promised
at least i can say i was honest
goodbye girl

she's still invested in the hours that passed her by
id pay attention if i thought it was worth the time
i tell her easy but her hands, they find a way
confusing passion for the love he never gave
fall back on reasons that we know wont stand a chance
watching her shoulders like a memory from the past
i tell her easy but her hands, they find a way
confusing passion for the love he never gave

she's still invested in the hours that passed her by
id pay attention if i thought it was worth the time
i tell her easy but her hands, they find a way
confusing passion for the love he never gave
fall back on reasons that we know wont stand a chance
watching her shoulders like a memory from the past
i tell her easy but her hands, they find a way
confusing passion for the love he never gave
confusing passion for the love he never gave

She's basically has a guy already, but turns to another guy (singer) because she's not satisfied with the passionless relationship she's currently in. The new guy knows she's cheating around on him, but doesn't care enough to be affected by it. He seems to be in it too for momentary gain and amusement.

My take on this, which should mean something because I am experiencing this in real live.

It's about a girl who already has a relationship, but cannot stop seeing the singer. She's too attracted. No chance.

"She's too invested in the hours that pass her by" : she cannot let go of her current relationship ( probably because she's married ) but by doing this, her life ( the hours ) passes by and she doesn't get any satisfaction out of it. That's why she needs the singer. ( or in my case, me ;) ) "She want it all" : she wants to have the security of her relationship and the excitement of seeing the singer.

So the only thing he can do is break it off ( myself I did not succeed in this yet, because i love her too much ). But he has to ( as I will have to some day ) because that's the only way for him to get some balance in his life. She will never go all the way with him.

Although I have the feeling that in my case, there's more real mutual love, not just 'that other thing', but I'm afraid the end result will be the same.

This song really blasted me off my socks, because I discovered it when all of this was taking off.

She want it all : she doesn't want to give up

amazing song i think its about a guy being with a girl but the girl keeps him in the dark like she hides him from all her friends and he's saying that she is not an easy person to be with cause she wants all of him and she wanted him to say shes his woman but she doesnt want anyone to know that so hes like watever im gonna leave now so i dont have to deal with this, he was honest with her and now he doesnt want anything to do with her cuz he put all his time and effort into making this work but its just now working.

"I tell her easy but her hands may find a way confusing passion for the love he never gave "

he's talking about him being with her and her ex boyfriend being with her at a point and how he never showed her love but he is trying too but he doesnt think its worth it..

idk if i got this right ...

1st off...i'm amazed that a song from timbaland and she wants revenge is this awesome...but of course timbaland is amazing in general he can work with anyone!! n yeh of course she wants revenge is awesome =]

yeh i agree w/ the comment above its about a girl whos messing around w/ an honest guy who honestly...does not want to be with her. at first he's too nice but now he's telling goodbye, he knows what they're doing is wrong and it's not his fault that her man cannot give her the love that she needs.

    quickly becoming a favorite.

its about not putting all his time and effort in to her, because its a waste.

I think the collaboration of this song is amazing. I have been a long time fan of She Wants Revenge. i think the lead singer's voice in the chorus is awesome, accompanied w/ Timbaland's beat. Very impressed. and i agree with quietgreyeyes that this will be heard in the clubs.

I agree about the song's meaning, and I have to admit this is quickly becoming a favorite, as well. When I first heard it, I was like "WTF IS this?!?" But it started to grow on me before it was finished, now I've got it on repeat play & the more I listen, the more I like!

Timbland can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. I'd never heard of She Wants Revenge before this, and the lead singer's voice was rather disturbing to me at first listen lol...wish I was young & healthy enough to go to clubs these days, I'd dance my @ss off to this!

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
