Black dress on, the smoke still in her hair
Dances all alone as if she didn’t care
She whispers, “No, I’m not giving in.”

When there’s no sense in talking anymore
Doesn’t say that much but she says it slow
Just a lonely, “No, I’m not giving in.”

I tried to save you from the dried up crowd
A perfect song to forget what you used to cry about
When the world has laid you low
You can come to me and I promise I won’t tell a soul

Reflections echo off her face
Perfection is out of place
And it’s only, only, only
Shades of gray

General Commentwell, to me; This song is about a girl who wont settle for a nobody kind of guy, "Black dress on, the smoke still in her hair
Dances all alone as if she didn’t care"
the way society shapes her to be.

"I tried to save you from the dried up crowd"
This is my favorite line of this song, it points out that that dude knows he got what it takes to make her happy but he realizes it was only an air promises, hes nothing yet.

"When the world has laid you low
You can come to me and I promise I won’t tell a soul"
well this gets cheesy but seems like he doesn't care about her past, even if the world has degrades her completely.

    "Reflections echo off her face
    Perfection is out of place
    And it’s only, only, only
    Shades of gray"

I dont know what that means but it could be that
if the echo to be ignorant were finally crushed she will realizes its only a "shades of gray" meaning; Nothing is perfect, everything is makes believe.

A well-written song, i dont know whats with all the "hatin"
