You lost the soul
You're out of control
Your demon siding with you
No sense to your vice
In plastic you hide
I tried, and I failed to teach you

Like a flower I want to be
The sun that you grow to
I long to change you

Open your mind
The loss you don't find
The strength designed to reach you
Destruction finds
The weak and the blind
It tears you up, and it eats you

Like a flower I want to be
The sun that you grow to
Dangerous power between you and me
How I long to change you

Failure comes as passion goes
Too much time has slipped away
All I see anymore is history

Like a flower I want to be
The sun that you grow to
I long to change you

Like a flower I want to be
The one that you grow to

Like a flower I want to be
The one that you grow to
Dangerous power between you and me
How I long to save you

I really really love this song. Although, I'm not quite sure what it means. There are two things I think this song is about... I think it's about a father and his daughter who got into drugs, alchohol, etc etc. Hence the whole "You lost the soul You’re out of control Your demon siding with you No sense to your vice In plastic you hide I tried and I failed to teach you"

And the whole flower part is about how he wanted her to grow up with him, to learn from him, and how he failed and wishes he could "change her" For the next part, "All I see anymore is history" is how it's too late to change her.

My other guess would be that this is a love song. The whole first part would how she's in love with someone else, but she wishes she wasn't. He, the guy who is in love with her, wants to "teach her" that the guy she's in love with doesn't love her back, but rather that HE loves her. Again, the whole flower thing is about growing and learning with each other. I think it would be like, their first kiss, et etc. I don't know.

This song is about a famous young woman, could easily be related to Lindsay Lohan who is astranged from her father.. A young starlett that is partying and out of control. The father wanting his daughter to change his behavior and grow to the "Flower" the "Little girl" he always knew and the mature woman he wanted her to become. The "Dangerous Power" is the power that her celebrity has. The Dangerous power is what is keeping them apart.

i thought the "dangerous Power" was an out of control emotion between the two people. I think the narrator of the song is talking about how he tried to guide someone he loved and it failed. Especially at the end when he says "all i see anymore is history" as in there is nothing that can continue between them. I have to admit this is a song i found a hard time understanding and relating too.

The dangerous power is their passion for each other. Bigger than both greater than the sum of its parts its overwhelming and if they can't walk away from it it's going to implode on them destroy everything. Like their marriages and such. I want to be your everything the sun that you grow to. But walking away and all he sees is history. The times and the passion that they had together before, their past together....maybe.

It seems to be about a girl wanting to live like a celebrity shes spending money like its nothing " No sense to your vice, in plastic you hide" sounds like the credit card is a habit. He sees this as her friend, or a lover and wants to help her, wants to be her rolemodel, before she self destructs, proberly partying alot and taking drugs. If she loses the passion for wanting to change then theres no hope for her "Failure comes as passion goes, Too much time has slipped away, All I see anymore is history" "Dangerous power" is what she has, while shes living like this, everything is good, but its dangerous because eventually she will have nothing.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
