"Outside" as written by Matthew Hales and Kim Oliver....
He wants to give but he?ll give himself away
She wants to take but she's taking all she can
They've got it all figured out
He wants to listen but there's so much more to say
She wants to shout it out loud but she doesn't
She doesn't open her mouth

Had enough of crying
When she's happy and smiling when she said
Had enough of wondering
What became of all the dreams he had
Oh, there out there somewhere

Baby, don't you say there on the inside
Together we can make it on the outside
You and me on the outside

Can you remember the way it used to feel
Run as fast and as far as we wanted to go
Then the walls closed in
And I was one step forward and two steps back
Two steps forward and three steps back
Oh, it?s all too much, so take my hand we?ll jump together

Baby, I won't leave you on the inside
Together we can make it on the outside
You and me on the outside
You and me on the outside, on the outside

Shine your light on me and I?ll shine my light on you
Shine my light on you if you shine your light on me
Shine your light on me and I?ll shine my light on you
On the outside, on the outside, on the outside

Oh, baby, I won't leave you on the inside
Together we can make it on the outside
You and me on the outside
You and me on the out, yeah, you and me on the outside

    General CommentYeah, it is :)
I think it's about coming out of your shell.
"He wants to give but he'll give himself away" - He can't be completely honest, or be himself because he's worried about putting himself out there, giving himself away.
The same with the girl "She wants to shout it out loud but she doesn't" she's not being iopen either.

Then the chorus: Don't you stay there on the inside [hiding inside of yourself, not being open] together we can make it on the outside. - If they are both honest/open/whatever, then they can make it.

The bit about shining their lights on each other is a really nice image of supporting each other and drawing strength from one another.

Or that's what I think anyway.

Aqualung is great, I don't know why only a couple of his songs have become popular.

General CommentOh yeah, and where it says "Baby I won't leave you on the inside" that's like saying I'm not going to leave you like this, I'm going to help you come out of our shell - aww :)

I could write loads about what I think of this, but as long as you take outside and inside to be outside and inside of your self or you shell, being confident or not, then you can probably figure out where I'm coming from.
