You were born in winter
But summer came too fast
Like a child you can't control
Now isn't it obvious?
That you still value his word
Now that it's not there
A lovelife down the drain--now isn't it obvious?
Some people hide their emotions
Some people show too much
I'm aiming for somewhere central
Now isn't it obvious?

He changed his look for you
You changed your life for him
Now, was the verdict worth the trial?

Did we go too far? Is that why your nose is bleeding?
Last night I dreamt we kissed on a bench in the evening

What went wrong with you?
I never took you for a fool

But all it takes is a rumour
Now isn't it obvious?
I'd love to clear the air,
But I can't bear to hear your voice
It's tainted with his name--now isn't it obvious?

He changed his look for you
You changed your life for him
Now, was the verdict worth the trial?

Did we go too far? Is that why your nose is bleeding?
Last night I dreamt we kissed on a bench in the evening

Did we go too far? Is that why your nose is bleeding?
Last night I dreamt we kissed on a bench in the evening

I was the one who followed
And you were the one who was leading
When last night I dreamt that we kissed
On a bench in the evening

I love this song, and the new album's great. It seems to me to be about having a secret but fairly obvious attraction to someone who's in/ just finished a relationship with someone that doesn't care about them that much.

    I especially love the verse:

Some people hide their emotions And some people show too much I'm aiming for somewhere central Now isn't it obvious?

Also, I'm pretty sure it's he changed his LOOK for you, just in a northern accent.

i agree with the above, i reckon its about having feelings for someone who's just broken up with a long-term, but can't bring yourself to say anything to them so you hope that they'll just feel the same way about you to you

and yes, it's definately LOOK not luck - my years of living up here finally come into use lol

best song on the album.... Maximo Park breaking new ground, possibly their most emotionally engaged sing ever

you two are right on with the meaning I'd imagine

why is her nose bleeding though... random

i'd guess its a metaphor - if you go up somewhere high, like up a mountain where the pressure is lower, it can make your nose bleed randomly. or it could be something quite different, i dunno lol

    damn good song tho

i agree with the nosebleed metaphor - they're under so much pressure, with the secrecy of pining after someone you're not supposed to??

I think That the song is about the girl in the song has cheated her boyfriend with Paul Smith, and the boyfriend find out, so he beated her up (that explanes the Nosebleed). And Paul is in love, and he is trying to get in a relation with that girl, so she must dump him.

Sorry for my bad English, I ame from Belgium you know

When Paul sings 'It's tainted with his name' it is truly heartbreaking. I wonder which lucky lady stole his heart?

I think this song is about a girl and her indecisivness, going from the singer to the other guy.

"You still value his word Now that it's not there"

He's saying that even though she broke up with him, she still cares about what he thinks. So she still has feelings for the ex.

"He changed his look for you But you changed your life for him"

I think he means that the ex guy tried to get the girl back, and in the end she went. And then he asks, "Now was the verdict worth the trial?" So pretty much he's asking, "Was making him change himself worth it to get you back?"

"I'd love to clear the air But I can't bear to hear your voice It's tainted with his name"

He'd like to ask her what happened but he's so disgusted/saddened with the whole situation.

I think the nosebleed thing is from the girl's constant change in "altitude" going from the ex(high altitude) to low(the singer) which usually causes nosebleeds.

Awesome song, no matter what it means.

The first thing I though re: nosebleed was partying too hard, they spend the night on a bender but he still can't tell her how he feels. MP are coming to Perth in a few weeks, so pumped for it, all my mates in the UK saw them at Glasto and gave them a big thumbs up!!

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
