Seth Shapiro got his law degree
He moved to Brooklyn from Schenectady, '93
Got some clients in the food industry
He says it's not the money, it's the recipes
He calls his mom says he's doing fine
She's got somebody on the other line
Puts Coldplay on, pours a glass of wine
Curls up with a book about organized crime

When it's late
And it's hot
And a date with the late show's all you got
Don't give out
Don't give up
One of these nights you might find someone to love

Someone to love

Beth Mackenzie got the job of her dreams
Retouching photos for a magazine aimed at teens
It's Thursday night she should be out on the scene
But she's sitting at home watching "The King of Queens"

Is something wrong - that she can't describe?
She takes the contacts out of her eyes
Sets the alarm - for 6:45
So she can get a little exercise

When its late
And it's hot
And an hour in the shower is the best that you've got
Don't give out
Don't give up
One of these nights you might find someone to love

Someone to love

You're not the only one who's lonely

Seth Shapiro is trying in vain
To hail a taxi in the morning in the pouring rain
Beth Mackenzie sees one just up ahead
She cuts in front of him and leaves him for dead

Someone to love

General Commentpretty sure the last line means that Beth stole a cab from Seth....two loveless souls, completely unaware

catchy as all hell, that's for sure

General CommentTwo lonely people in much the same situation: lives stuck in neutral. They tell themselves "it'll happen" soon. There's the perfect opportunity to meet cute, but whether because of the lives they lead, the people they are, or most likely the culture we all live in, they just drift right by each other.

Great critique of modern pop mentality.

General CommentAwesome song. Does the last line means they fell in love or Seth died? I've been thinking and I don't know...

General CommentThis song makes fun of people that think they're great, but are really assholes and therefore nobody likes them.

And no, he did not die. Have you seriously never heard that expression before?

General Commentkind of funny. they're both lonely souls who lead mundane lives and there's hope that they might find somebody. but turns out that when they finally cross paths, they don't even notice eachother. it's funny to me because i expected them to meet in the last verse.. but they didn't =) FoW's creativity for you.

General CommentI can't believe I just heard this song. I really am a huge FoW fan and I can't find the rest of the songs from their album on the internet. But this song in particular is great. I love the pop-culture and witty lyrics from these guys mixed with the addictive catchty rhythms and melodies.

General CommentI love the extra layers of irony in the video, with the reveal that the two characters are actually neighbors in the same apartment building, completely oblvious of each other.
