"Little Victories" as written by Faris Badwan, Thomas Cowan, Joshua Hayward, Joseph Spurgeon and Rhys Webb....
I press your hand in mine however cautiously, I keep a smile right to myself
And I lapse into the grasp of an overriding obsession
And I get sick as I watch my interests fall into suspension

[Chorus:]
This Winter
So cold, Creeping down your arm
Stealth soldiers, Creeping around your palm
It's hard, hard to understand
Little victories won creeping around your hand

The sickness has taken hold through violent, blurted syllables
Escape my mouth under my breath
The voice of pricking dread is whispering insistent in my ear
My paranoia galvanized by your gaze, so austere

[Chorus]

I pinned your crest to my chest, hoping it might start to look right
There was hushed talk of young boy's corpse lying face down in some river
His hands used to move like mine
I can't stand myself this morning, i am practically that boy
No strength to endure, Ghostly insecure, Pallid through lack of choice

[Chorus]

General Commenti think it's about being used by some girl.
i.e. he's just one of her little victories, and even though he's obsessed with her, she'll just throw him away like the last boy.

General Commenti don't think it's about an actual soldier, that's a little too literal.

General Commenti think it is an expression for the authors regret, shame, and hatred for his own unintentional hypicratical fellings. (one who laughs about emos but hides the fresh wounds 'round his own wrist)

General CommentI thought it was just Faris putting a morbid twist on something as simple as holding hands.

The stealth soldiers are obviously fingers right?

General CommentI think this song is about being with someone and not knowing what to do with yourself. I think the boy in the song has doubts about the girl that he's with and by holding her hand he has "little victories". In other words by being with her he feels better about their relationship.

General CommentI think it is about a man probably Faris, beginning a relationship with someone he knows is perhaps the sort of person that loves the chase, moving on from boy to boy and Faris knows that he will one day be that boy with his corpse lying face down in some river i.e used, and broken hearted. However he still enjoys the "little victories" to do with the beginning of the relationship, while it lasts.
This could be a reflection of his relationship with Peaches Geldof.
