"Gloves" as written by Faris Badwan, Thomas Cowan, Joshua Hayward, Joseph Spurgeon and Rhys Webb....
Today I found a baby's glove
Lying on the drainage board so still
Yesterday a leather glove from the slim hand of a woman.
The next time I saw one it was lying half frozen and twisted on the kerb..
And I, now I have my own private collection
All lined in rows when you open up the wardrobe doors
Now I have no room for my obsession
Lined up and labeled in neat little packets.

The next time I saw one it stuck inside my head
And became all that I could think about.
I'll think twice before I pick it up this time
Since I thought about what it had done
And where it had been and who it had belonged to
And I'll twice before I pick it up this time
I thought about who it might have done
And where it had come from and what it might have belonged to.
The next time I saw one I had that itching sensation
But my hands stayed by my sides and I couldn't take it.

And through wax seals and padlocks
A hand through my ribcage.
Past the choking I saw palms and fingers grasping shoulders, collarbone, crushing.
I imagined myself hacking desperately at a sea of appendages,
Forward and right, freeing myself like a butcher,
Feeling the mash of bone and sinew running slowly down the front of my body

And I couldn't take it any more,
I said, "I've got to go, I've got to get out of here,"
And I ran down the street,
I've got to get out of here,
I've got to go

General Comment"Glove" is probably a simple metaphore for an obsession that faris has;one that is hard tto resist on that he counld take anymore so he left maybe it might be about someone he like or dated.she stared out like a simple girl taen mored to a treat he couldn't take.Or it could just be talking about his glove obssession (to weak to be true)

General CommentI heard - it may not be true - that Faris was collecting gloves he found on the street for an art project, but got obsessed with it after a while and just started picking them up and keeping them, not for the project. But I may be wrong.

General CommentUm, Faris is obsessed with gloves?! I think.

I've only just discovered this band, and this is the first song I heard. I was just on some music site - I can't remember which one - randomly watching stuff because I was bored when I came across The Horrors. Their style, to me, is very original. Well, I like The Horrors. :]

General CommentI don't know what it means, but this song is crazy. The last part disturbs me. It's like a descent into madness. I like it.

General CommentI found the meaning on the net!

FARIS: "This is about a collection I used to have. You always see abandoned gloves on the pavement and I used to collect them, label them with the location and time that I found them and put them in plastic bags. I'm sure that some of them had fleas. But I'd imagine stories of who they belonged to. In the end I threw them away because they started to freak me out."

General Commenthe,he,he i love this song. i really don't think there is some big meaning behind it - its just Faris's obsession with collecting found gloves. I think the bit about collarbone crushing is about a dream he had about them, the gloves trying to kill him, and he threw them out shortly afterwards. oh so awesome.
