"Down for the Count" as written by and Damian Kulash....
Maybe I'm wrong that you've got some master plan
That I just can't see from here
Perhaps I just meant the part where you got up off your ass
And did something for yourself

But from here baby
It looks like you're down, you're down for the count
Oh and another cigarette won't help
Ya gotta get up, ya gotta get out
You can't let it go like this

Maybe you're right
It's not a matter of design so simply dismantled
Perhaps there's some truth
That these are the accidents of fate
And this is just how it goes, it goes

But baby from here
It looks like you're down, you're down for the count
Oh and another glass of wine just won't help
Ya gotta get up, ya gotta get out
You can't let it go like this

But from here baby
It looks like you're down, you're down for the count
Oh and another cigarette won't help
Ya gotta get up, ya gotta get out
You can't let it go like this

General Comment"Down for the Count" is an idiom meaning you've lost a battle. With that in mind, I think he's talking about a girlfriend who's depressed, and this song takes place after a fight. The lyrics are pretty obvious from there. I'd be only too happy if anyone needs an explanation.

General CommentFirst of all, this song is great and so different from their regular songs, its very haunting. I'm guessing its Damina talking about a girl who just broke up with him and is miserable now and trying to ease the pain by smoking and drinking wine. Hence, she's 'down for the count'
