"I Can Feel Your Pain" as written by and Andy Hull....
Well, I watched your black tied family
Rise up from graves near cemeteries
That I have not been to since your goodbye

And I drank another simile
And compared your Jesus to a thief
He took my bones and He turned them into bread

'Cause I can feel your pain
In my bones, in my bones

I was scared to call your mother
For news that you weren't getting better
Well, my God, what the hell am I supposed to do?

And I ran off and ran on to something
That I swore was everything but beautiful
I only say that word for you

'Cause I can feel your pain
In my bones, in my bones
And I can feel your pain
Deep in my bones, deep in my bones

And ha, Hallelujah to the one in our bones
And Hallelujah to the one that we love

General CommentFor me this song is about loss, and the pain you feel when you can do nothing to help somebody around you. It reminds me of a situation I had when a friend of mine was in the hospital. I have a feeling that somebody really important died in Andy's life died from getting sick or something. (That I have not been to since your goodbye) Jesus is called a thief because he took that person away from him. He describes a situation of helplessness, because in those situations there really is not a lot that you can do. You juwst want to run away because of the pain that you feel.
So, that's at least my take on it.

General CommentI love this song, especially the line "And I ran off, and ran on to something, That I swore was everything but beautiful, I only say that word for you" just the way he says that, and the sentiment you feel behind it is just spellbinding, i adore this band.

    so real.
sometimes you avoid bad news best you can even know you know full well that it won't change it.

absolutely fucking incredible song. he's so raw. you can hear the pain in his voice and almost feel the pain because of it.

General CommentI just recently bought this album, and I have to say it was automatically one of my favorites if not my absolute favorite. From the opening and on i literally had butterflies. I couldn't stop smiling - until this song hit. I CRIED, and only one song has made me cry before - and that was when Conor performed Spring Cleaning when I saw Bright Eyes last fall. As many others here have said:

And I ran off, and ran on to something
That I swore was everything but beautiful
I only say that word for you

ooh boy, I almost couldn't contain the emotion that ran through me with his voice.
