"A Rite of Passage" as written by Anthony S Raneri, Jack A O'shea, Nick Ghanbarian and Christopher John Guglielmo....
Cut, cut, cut, cutting myself down to pieces
Too hard on myself it would seem
That everyone could see myself worth beneath

I'll take a stand devise plans
Figure it out
I'll take my cuts and stitch them up
With sutures of pure cement and
And I've realized

There's no right way to go
So what if I'm a singer
I've got black spots on my liver
And cancer grown on both my lungs
We take everything we know
About ourselves and put them in
A diary in a fire ring
Scrutiny below not me now
I think I'm ready to go

Back, back, back, back to the crooner in question
I sure hope you all like my songs
Well maybe I put too much talk in my rhymes
And melodies so stunning brainwashing minds
From day one I took pride in my
Pure and honest intentions
And I've realized

There's no right way to go
So what if I'm a singer
I've got black spots on my liver
And cancer grown on both my lungs
We take everything we know
About ourselves and put them in
A diary in a fire ring
Scrutiny below not me now
I think I'm ready to go

And I've realized
That I don't wanna be judged no more

And I've realized
There's no right way to go
So what if I'm a singer
I've got black spots on my liver
And cancer grown on both my lungs
We take everything we know
About ourselves and put them in
A diary in a fire ring
Scrutiny below not me now
I think I'm ready to go...

I think I'm ready to go!

General CommentI absolutely love this song.
especially when he sings "I've realized that I don't wanna be judged no more..."
it's such a statement, and he sings it so well.
it's just a letting go, he's saying, well, screw you if you don't like this, but it's who I am and you can either listen and love it or just not.
it doesn't matter to him anymore.

General Commentclare i completely agree with you. the part "i've realized that i don't wanna be judged no more" is so personal and if you're really listening to the song, it hits you really hard. i love the fact that it's just anthony with none of the other guys playing. his vocals are absolutely amazing on the entire record, but that one part really exposes not only how he's feeling but also how unique his voice is.

I love these lines. Its like, so what if I sin, drink, and smoke? I'm opening up my life to you. I'm letting you "see my selfworth beneath" so don't judge my mishaps, wrong doings, and indescretions. Because you wouldn't even know about them if I wasn't open and honest about them with you and the rest of the world. OK, so maybe I delved into that a bit deeper, but oh well.

I also agree with you clarelvsmychem and isacult. That line is so powerful, made even more so by the fact that unlike the rest of the song that is sang in a powerful voice, its ang so meekly, but with so much expression and feeling.

General Commentit just astounds me how this band is only getting better... honestly i was scared for this new album and when it came it did not dissapoint at all... the newest album is out in september anthony said at a show and they played a new song and even that one kicked ass

this song helped me through alot... in life we spend too much time not only having others judge us, but also us judging ourselves...

anthonys just saying hey its time to let go

    General CommentIts "sinner," not singer.
This song is about the struggle of wanting to be liked. Everyone goes through it. Its just some people find out whether or not people like you isnt such a big deal.
    this song is so catchy.
