Step out the front door like a ghost
into the fog where no one notices
the contrast of white on white
In between the moon and you
the angels get a better view
of the crumbling difference between wrong and right
I walk in the air between the rain
through myself and back again
Where? I don't know
Maria says she's dying
through the door I hear her crying
I don't know

Chorus
Round here we always stand up straight
Round here something radiates

Well Maria came from Nashville with a suitcase in her hand
she said she'd like to meet a boy who looks like Elvis
She walks along the edge of where the ocean meets the land
just like she's walking on a wire in the circus
She parks her car outside of my house
and takes her clothes off
says she's close to understanding Jesus
she knows she's more than just a little misunderstood
she has trouble acting normal when she's nervous

Chorus
Round here we're carving out our names
Round here we all look the same
Round here we talk just like lions
But we sacrifice like lambs
Round here she's slipping through my hands

Sleeping children better run like the wind
out of the lightning dream
Mama's little baby better get herself in
out of the lightning

She says "It's only in my head"
She says "Shhh I know it's only in my head"
She said "Did you think that you were dreaming?"
I said no. "Did you think that you were dreaming?"
I said no. "Did you think that you were dreaming?"
I said sometimes I don't know.

There's a girl on the car out in the parking lot
She says "Come'on, hey man come'on, just take a shot"
She says "Can't you see me?"
"Can't you see me? Can't you see my walls are tumbling down?"
"Can't you see my walls are crumbling down?"
"Can't you see my sun stop spinning 'round?"
"Can't you see the sky turn black and brown?"
"Can't you see the moon is flashing round?"
"Can't you see me? Can't you see me? Can't you see me?"
No.

But there's a girl on car in the parking lot
says "Man why don't you take a shot?
Can't you see my walls are crumbling?"
And she looks up at the building
she says "I'm thinking of jumping"
She says she's tired of life
she must be tired of something

Round here she's always on my mind
Round here hey man got lots of time
Round here we're never sent to bed early
And nobody makes us wait
Round here we stay up very, very, very, very late

I can't see nothing, nothing,
Round here
So catch me if I'm falling, catch me if I'm falling,
catch me 'cuz I'm falling down on you
Then I said "I'm under the gun round here"
Then I said "I'm under the gun round here"

But I can't see nothing, nothing,
Round here

General CommentThis song is absolutely incredible. I loved the Counting Crows version and when I heard that Panic! (my fav band) had covered it, I had to listen. It's so powerful. Does anyone know where I can download an MP3 of this?

General Commentif you go to panicatthedisco.com, then to their livejournal, and search the pages for hours, you might be able to find an mp3 that just barely works. i found one a while ago, but it wasn't the right format, so i lost it. you could try, though. and if you do get it to work, could you tell me, cuze i want it too.

General Commenti think the counting crows actually sing that whole "can't you see my walls..." verse in their live version. i definitely wish it was on the originial counting crows version though. it makes the song just that more amazing.

General Commentwow, I mean all the songs I've heard from them were all punk/pop-ish

but I think that it was better for Brendan to sing a slower song, maybe he (they) should do it more often O.o.

General CommentThis cover is immense. I love the bit they added in themselves and it relates to me in a way nothing else ever has. You can download it using a youtube to mp3 converter thats how i got it.
