"5:55" as written by and Jarvis Branson/dunckel Cocker....
A cinq heures cinquante-cinq
Awake with open eyes
A drift upon the night
And miles away from land

[Chorus]
Five fifty five
Five fifty five

A cinq heures cinquante-cinq
Ante meridiem
Too late to end it now
Too early to start again

[Chorus]

Soon the morning will arrive
Can I begin another day
Whilst this old day is still alive
Refusing to be put away

Five fifty five
No sleep tonight
Five fifty five

Like a beast awaits its faith
Laid here with time to kill
The very dead of night
Where time and space stand still

[Chorus]

A cinq heures cinquante-cinq
Nothing will ever change
On the altar of my thought
I sacrifice myself again and again and again

[Chorus]

General CommentI agree with Alphaelement interpretation, but I would add that this could refer to some wider subjects, not only to staying up late.

General CommentIts about staying up late (based on the video, staying up late with a lover), and then just passing time drifting and thinking at 5:55, when its to late to go to bed (and end what happened last night) but to early to start a new day.

General CommentI was born at 5:55 and this song enchants me because of that. By the way it was written with the duo Air and Jarvis Cocker, Pulp's frontman.
