Tonight I'm sending a message
This is the end of an era
The end of second chances
In the face of defeat
I'm winning
Yet, you still have so much left to say

They're coming straight for me

Just let me go for now
I'll be just fine
Don't you know now that I'm back on my own

Tell me how it feels to watch the walls of your security crumble
I remember you, you took the easy way out when I gave you something to stand for

They're coming straight for me

Just let me go for now
I'll be just fine
Don't you know now that I'm back on my own

I was just another promise that you couldn't keep

    Something about a breakup...

and what annoys me is on a lot of songs people just say "OH YEAH I REALLY LOVE THIS SONG!" and I'm like who the fuck cares I would like to hear what you got out of the song... seeing as how the site's name is songmeanings... -__-

This song to me is about a person that was given up on maybe? It actually works really well with an old friendship I had..especially the lines "I was just another promise that you couldn't keep"

Really like this song, possibly my favourite from the album.

There's some lyrics missing.. "Read between the lines We can't give in this time"

I was watching a film on sky indie called 'Thumbsucker', the main character just had sex with a girl and his younger brother asked him what her p*ssy was like, then he said 'I heard its the softest thing ever'. Maybe thats where they got the title of the song from

It's a really good song, and I love the meaning behind it, or at least the one I draw from it. I don't even really know how to explain what it means to me.. I went through a really bad breakup, and this is how I felt. I felt..hurt, but stronger? because of it.

This song really means a lot to me right now, I was in a relationship for nine months and my girlfriend dumped me. I really didn't want to let her go I felt like she was the one an she would always play stupid little head games saying she wanted me back when she really just wanted someone to care about her. I finally got over her and that's what I feel like the first verse is about, "the end of an era" "the end of second chances". I felt defeated for a long time but once I was able to get her out of my mind I felt like I had finally won.

Tonight I'm sending a message This is the end of an era the end of second chances In the face of defeat I'm winning Yet, you still have so much left to say

A few months later she realized that I was truely the one for her and she tried getting back with me and I told her that I was better off on my own, thus the chrous.

Just let me go for now I'll be just fine Don't ya know now that I'm back on my own

I feel like the second verse is about her realizing that I was finally done and that I was no longer her "security".

Tell me how it feels to watch the walls of your security crumble I remember you, you took the easy way out when I gave you something to stand for

This last part to me was basically about her breaking all our plans for the future, having kids, getting married, etc.

I was just another promise that you couldn't keep

Anyways that's just what the song means to me...

    P.s - Fucking amazing!!!!

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
