"Weird" as written by Justin Andrew Harris, Daniel Frederic Seim and Brent Knopf....
say it again, say it again
i know you love to hear yourself speak
words that you think
i can't follow
maybe that's the way you and i will always relate

you always had the quickest wit
the quickest quips and I can't keep up
It's clear that you have a real gift of gab
and I'm just jealous
maybe that's the way you and I will always relate

but i won't let how i sincerely feel here stand in my way
'cause there's no love lost that i can't find again, my dear friend

you always said that we're friends
but that must depend which way the wind blows
it's clear that you have your own set of plans
maybe that's the way you and i will always relate

so i won't let how i sincerely feel here stand in my way
'cause there's no love lost that i can't find again, my dear friend

General CommentThis song is about Merger Wishes, struggling against co-dependency, and mourning of the loss of a friendship.

    I totally agree with clairelittler.

But, as far as, "there is no love lost that can't be found again, my dear friend"... I take that to mean:

The alpha friend has no appreciation for the efforts and meaning the narrator is placing into the relationship. If they aren't going to appreciate the effort, the narrator informs the recipient that, "Hey, just because i can't form a meaningful and open relationship with you doesn't mean that i'm incapable of forming that level of intimate relationship with another person.

So, "there's no love lost that i can find again", even if that means in another person.

The reason the narrator is hesitant to sever the friendship is that he honestly cares about the other person. And, there's sometimes fear that with the loss of that friendship, there will be a subsequent loss of an aspect of your personality, especially if they greatly contributed to your emotion development or well being.

Either way it sucks and is unfortunate, but you've gotta move on to those who are willing to invest as much in a relationship as you.

    General Comment2nd verse is:
you always had the quickest wit
the quickest quips and I can't keep up
It's clear that you have a real gift of gab
    and I'm just jealous
maybe that's the way you and I will always relate

and i think its "how i sincerely feel DARE stand in my way"
and "it's clear that you ahve your own set of plans"

General CommentGreat song. obviously about a pair of lovers that had a very strange relationship. It would seem that one personality was an egomaniac. The other personality seems to feel inferior, but holds this against the other person. Kind of making it impossible for them to really move on.

What I really think is interesting is the relationship of the slide guitar and the real heavy sax lines. The guitar mimics the vocals in the melody, and the line is played real subdued. It is definitely the inferior voice to the sax lines, which demand a lot of attention from the listener. Just something I heard. Seriously, do these guys have a bad song?

General Comment"how I sincerely feel, here" as in how he feels in the present.

This goes back to both The Pelican and Wet and Rusting, those relationships of the other taking all that he has, and her running away from him when things got hard... he was always trying to catch up.

General Commenti think this song may be about one of his friends that trys to seem smarter than he really is. I am in this situation now with guys that went away to a really good college and i am at the community college. Thats how i interpret this song.

General Commentclearly it says " i wont let how i sincerely feel DARE stand in my way"..the "DDD" sound is completely obvious.
and it says " it's clear that you have your own set of plans AND I JUST FOLLOW".

and i think this song is about a complicated relationship...say, the narrator loves this person but they are "just friends" and the narrator lets the other person decide where they stand etc. letting the other person walk all over him/her pretty much. but no matter how the narrator is treated there is "no love lost, that i cant find again" becuase he loves the other person so much - he could do anything and he would be there if the other person came crawling back. but at the same time the narrator gets frustrated and angry at the arrogant other half of the relationship...but he (the narrator) wont let that stand in the way of the love that he feels for the arrogant other person.

its a far too common story huh.
