A Literary Giant.
Even christ wore A crown.
(She) sees the world as a fire
sees the truth As cats see the
fence

Behind a wall of momentum hides
a frown so wide

A high so stern
A Fetish so public
and i repeat;
Where is the gold and who painted it?

Where is the blame and who placed it?
when does the answer pose
a question bold enough that it
discovers itself?

There is a messiah crawling on his knees
Among the sick and battered
needy.
Theres ships making there way
down a long line of lips.

your Irony speaks many volumes
to me
A wedding ring by the sink birthed
a pothole at my feet
allow me to repent
condemn me when I speak
for the light i follow
blindly swollows souls
the souls of the wolves
(even christ wore a crown)

General CommentIf you actually bothered to listen to the song instead of pasting something you read on another website, you'd realize these aren't even remotely close to being the lyrics.

General Commentthese are lyrics from the glassjaw.com site, under the title 'don't hate', i believe. 'Jesus Glue' is already a classic tune, and i've only heard the bootleg version.

    Lyric CorrectionIt makes you mad...
With your head in a bad, dear god you look so fucking sad
    Embrace the reborn
Your belligerent die amoung your rabid core
    Ignorant, they will play
They will indoctrinate the fetus in your name
They're scared to death of your game
A modern divide with your leap of faith

I need to, I need to
    I need to own you
    To know I want you
    I need to offer
    You another
    Jealous lover

    I'm glad they'll be saved
While I sink where I stand
    Their faith shall be restored
In a valley of fire in his Daddy's war
    Your cries that won't make
Me hold salvation for the fetus in your name

I need to, I need to
    I need to own you
    To know I want you
    I need to offer
    You another
    Jealous lover

I hope the heads of all your children are used for the pleasures of pegan gods

I need to, I need to
    I need to own you
    To know I want you
    I need to offer
    You another
    Jealous lover

    It makes you look bad
With your head in a bag, oh dear god you look so fucking sad

I hope the heads of all your children are used for the pleasures of pegan gods

My InterpretationI'm just assuming that the lyrics that were posted in the comment that I grabbed this from are correct.. Anyway I think this song is most likely referring to his opinion of and feelings towards radical Islamists, given that the song has a very middle eastern feel with the riffs and chords, the vocal melodies and styling, and the rhythms, etc. and starts off with that sample of whatever guy speaking some Middle Eastern sounding language (anyone know what that sample is from? or what language that is? and what he's saying?). Given that they're from Long Island right out side of NYC they were probably pretty close when 911 happened and I'm sure it probably affected them in a big way, and looking at these lyrics I'd guess that Daryl probably isn't a huge opponent of the War on Terror in general. I'd also guess that he's not a huge fan of Christianity either, giving a song that sounds like it's about religious extremism a somewhat humorous-sounding name like "Jesus Glue", possibly hinting that he doesn't feel Christianity is much different from Islam (especially given that Jesus is recognized as a prophet, though not the son of God in the Q'uran), or that by being a largely Christian culture, the West is sort of "glued" to the Middle East and all the Abrahamic religions that came out of it in sequence to supplant each other (given how Christians believe in the Jewish scriptures as the "Old Testament" and that according to Christian scripture in the "New Testament" technically practitioners of Judaism are doomed to hell in not worshipping Jesus as savior or following the New Testament, and also that the Q'uran states that Christians before Muhammed are granted salvation, but those Christians after his time are expected to accept the teachings of Muhammed as the pure interpretation of God's Word rather than what it claims to be as corrupted and changed versions of God's Word in both the Hebrew and Christian Bibles).

Honestly I don't know what Daryl's religious affiliation is, but I do know that Justin is Jewish (whether ethnically, religiously, or both, I don't know), so I'm not sure exactly the scope of what they're knocking on, either religions as a whole, Abrahamic religions from the Middle East, just Islam and to an extent Christianity, just Islam, or just radical extreme religious fundamentalism and terrorism in general, but I think it's most likely either religion as a whole or just the concept and culture of Jihad.

As for the "I need you own you to want you" and "jealous lover", that confuses me a bit, so if it is about radical Islam, then he could be using romantic references as a metaphor for war and clash of cultures, or else the other way around, using the violent imagery and usage or religious ideas and words like "faith" as a metaphor for seduction (maybe he was into a Muslim chick or a girl with a different religion?) but I'd say I'm definitely leaning a lot further towards the former. Maybe jealous lover means lover of God in that Christians and Muslims both worship god, but are competing in a way that is somewhat similar to a guy's girlfriend banging someone else (female infidelity being something he seems to write about a lot anyway).
