"Starz In Their Eyes" as written by and Jack Christopher Allsopp....
They'll be making sure you stay amused
They'll fill you up with drugs and booze
Maybe you'll make the evenin' news

And when you're trippin' over your dreams
They'll keep you down by any means
By the end of the night
You'll be stiflin' your screams

Since you became a V.I. Person
It's like your problems have all worsened
Your paranoia casts aspersions
On the truths you know

And they'll just put you in a spotlight
And hope that you'll do alright
Or maybe not

Now why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
Why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?

So why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
Now why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
Starz in their eyes

Remember they said you'd show them all
Emphasize the rise but not the fall
And now you're playin' a shoppin' mall

Your mum and dad, they can't believe
What you appear to have achieved
While the rest of these users
Are just laughin' in their sleeves

Since you became a V.I. Person
It's like your problems have all worsened
Your paranoia casts aspersions
On the truths you know

And now the tabloids use your face
To document your fall from grace
And then they'll tell you that
That's just the way it goes
That's just the way it goes

Now why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
It's the same old story
Well they just didn't realize

And it's a long way to come
From the dog and duck karaoke machine
And Saturday night's drunken dreams

Now why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
It's the same old story
Well, they just didn't realize

And it's a long way to come
From your private bedroom dance routines
And Saturday night's drunken dreams

Now why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
Why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?

So why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
Now why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
Starz in their eyes?

Now why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
It's the same old story
Well, they just didn't realize

And it's a long way to come
From the dog and duck karaoke machine
Saturday night's drunken dreams

When I grow up I'm goin' to be famous

Behind the steel barrier, sequence and glitter
Five inch heels still knee deep in the litter
Each of them a bitter bullshitter
Wrapped up in the cloak of fake glamor
Gettin' lost in the camera

Well, footprints are fool's gold
And diamonds crust their glitz on their one off plimsolls
So little time for these one off arseholes
Rigor mortis Ken and Barbie dolls

A pair of big shades and a push up bra
It's such a short gap between the gutter and stars
But you've come a long way from the place that you started
So why'd you wanna go and get so down hearted

Welcome to the kingdom of the blagger
Uncuttin' your nose, clean coat in your bladder
A whole lot happier, a whole lot sadder
Used to be satisfied, now you feel like Mick Jagger

Now why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
It's the same old story
Well they just didn't realize

And it's a long way to come
From the dog and duck karaoke machine
Saturday night's drunken dreams

Now why do you wanna go
And put starz in their eyes?
It's the same old story
Well they just didn't realize

And it's a long way to come
From your private bedroom dance routines
And Saturday night's drunken dreams

General CommentI agree with the first poster and the whole instant celebrity. &To Donal, the last poster; I think the title has a lot to do with what the song is about. It's not meant to be taken literally. Sound it out and see the context as a whole. Sounds a whole lot like 'stars in the rise', doesn't it?

General CommentI think it's about the current culture of the instant celebrity - particularly shows like x factor and things. They build up people's hopes and make people achieve their dreams of being famous, but it's not all it's cracked up to be, and soon enough they'll be nobodies again. Quite a happy sounding song considering the message, but I like it!

    General Commentthis song is great!
first few times i heard it i thought it may have been about drugs, maybe heroin because of the use of 'users' and the whole starz in thier eyes shizz, but now i think i agree more with 'treacheroustiger' his intake makes more sense haha

General Comment''They'll be making sure you stay amused
They'll fill you up with drugs and booze
Maybe you'll make the evening news''

I think it means the celebrities management/agency...they are trying to set the VIP up in the beginning so they screw lots of stuff up- with alcohol etc, in order to get press attention.

''And when you're tripping over your dreams
They'll keep you down by any means
and by the end of the night you'll be stifling your screams''

The VIP can't believe their luck, they have fame, their dreams are coming true, but really people are trying to kick them down and things aren't so good.

    ''Since you became a VIPerson
It's like your problems have all worsened
    Your paranoia casts aspersions
    On the truths you know''

The VIP thought life would be good, but after being set up...their problems have actually got worse.

''And they'll just put you in the spotlight
And hope that you'll do alright
    Or maybe not''

Meaning they don't really care, they just want to make a bit of cash out of you.

''Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
Why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
So why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
    Starz in their eyes?''

I think that is aimed at the people who set up the celebrities, for example, managers, agents, judges on shows like 'Pop Idol'.

''Remember they said you'd show them all
Emphasise the rise but not the fall
And now you're playing a shopping mall''

Probably things they said to the VIP before they became famous, how you would show everyone. They talked about the rise but not the fall. The shopping mall part probably means they aren't quite as famous anymore after being kicked down.

''Your mum and dad they can't believe
What you appear to have achieved
While the rest of these users are just laughing in their sleeves''

The parents are taking it at face value and think their child is doing really well, doing something with their lives. I think the 'users' bit has something to do with drugs...perhaps a lot of people where the famous person has come from has turned to drugs?

    Who knows?

''And now the tabloids use your face
To document your fall from grace
And then they'll tell you that that's just the way it goes
That's just the way it goes''

The tabloids still write about how the person isn't doing so well for themselves and that it's tough luck as they didn't HAVE to be famous.

General Comment"While the rest of these users are just laughing in their sleeves"

I think "users" refers to new found "friends" when someone becomes famous, they use the fame and fortune but know it might not last, so laugh behind the persons back and look out for the next wannabe to take advantage of.

General CommentI think its quite straightforward that 'Starz in their eyes' means starstruck, so the question is why do you want to be famous? Why do you want to command all this attention? The obvious negative connotations are all attached, ie abusive managers (users), drugs (uncutting you(r) nose clean) etc. So all you posers must laugh off your drunken dreams now.

General CommentStarz In Their Eyes could also be seen as a play on 'Sparking' some one. For those of you who happen not to of been brought up in the UK, sparking some one is when you knock them out. Sparking refers to that fact that when you get knocked out you normaly see white flash just before you pass out.

General CommentThe "User" part refers to the people who are all around you, getting paid for doing nothing and the management and all the new friends and things. And to "Loves Life" i think he wrote this song maybe based on his own experience and he maybe telling how the celebrity world really is... if some people didn't already know.
