"Firefly" as written by Ken Block, Jeff Beres, Andrew Copeland, Ryan Carter Newell and Mark E. Trojanowski....
She's not like anyone else
You wonder why she captured
You like a firefly
And makes you shine like you never could alone

And tell me
Can you see her shining
Through a crowded room
Where she's the view
And maybe
She'll embrace your innocence maybe

She gets high but hates those cigarettes
She speaks and breaks your intellect
And she's allowed to change her mind
Just you try to stop her yeah

And so it is
The same you've not been since
One hit and you were lit up like a firefly
Be careful what you wish

She tells stories like a painter, yeah
With colorful words that I don't always understand
But it always sounds like somewhere better than here
Yeah, everywhere is better with her

And so it is
The same you've not been since
One hit and you were lit up like a firefly
Be careful what you wish

She tells stories like a painter, yeah
With colorful words that I don't always understand
But it always sounds like somewhere better than here
Yeah, everywhere is better with her

She has a subtle way
Of making you forget your darkness
Behind some clever conversation
No finer heart, could ever beat for you

Nd so it is
The same you've not been since
One hit and you were lit up like a firefly
Be careful what you wish

She tells stories like a painter, yeah
With colorful words that I don't always understand
But it always sounds like somewhere better than here
Yeah, everywhere is better with her

And so it is
The same you've not been since
One hit and you were lit up like a firefly
Be careful what you wish

She tells stories like a painter, yeah
With colorful words that I don't always understand
But it always sounds like somewhere better than here
Yeah, everywhere is better with her

She's not like anyone

I love this song, as I love Sister Hazel.
My favorite line from this song

General CommentI love the sound of this song. I have no idea why it's not more popular. I played it for a couple of friends and they both loved it. Firefly is on my Sister Hazel Favorites playlist- which I need, since I have so freaking many Sister Hazel songs... what a Hazelnut.

Anyway, Firefly is obviously about falling in love with an amazing girl. The guy was in a dark time before he met her, but "she has a subtle way of making you forget your darkness." She came and lit him back up again. It's a cute metaphor. I love all the "maybe"s in the chorus, so that is shows both his hope and his underlying fear to let himself hope. Very Ken Block. This song reminds me of Truth Is off of Absolutely, and Everything Else Disappears, too. I don't know why, but I really feel like Everything Else Disappears and Firefly were written about the same person.

    "She tells stories like a painter, yeah/ With colorful words that I don't always understand;
But it always sounds like somewhere better than here/ Well, everywhere is better with her."
