Baby, I get so scared inside and I don't really understand
Is it love that's on my mind or is it fantasy?
Heaven is in the palm of my hand and it's waiting here for you
What am I supposed to do with a childhood tragedy?

If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain the same?

Sometimes it's hard to hold on, so hard to hold on to my dreams
It isn't always what it seems when you're face to face with me
You're like a dagger, and stick me in the heart
And taste the blood from my blade
And when we sleep, would you shelter me in your warm and darkend grave?

If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain the same?

Will you ever take me? No I just can't take the pain
Would you ever trust me? No I'll never feel the same

I know I've been so hard on you, I know I've told you lies
If I could have just one more wish, I'd wipe the cobwebs from my eyes

If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain the same?

i don't know what it means to me except it sounds like both a love song and a cry for help.

I think this song is about a girl and a guy who have a relationship together - sorta. The guy knows the girl didn't grow up a good life, as her only idea of what a relationship is happened to come from bad, cheating parents..or whatever..and so when she cheats on him, he doesn't know what to do..

Anyway, so the guy knows that he loves her and wants to be with her, but she is struggling with her feelings. At one point they had a wonderful relationship, and she knew she loved him. Now, though, she is unsure. She knows that he would be good for her, her would protect her and everything, but she feels he is also smuggling her - and this hurts her too, because she cares for him and doesn’t want to hurt him.

She wishes she could figure out whether she loves him, and he knows that even when she does, he might not feel the same, because she did, after all, cheat on him.

The chorus, or “Close my eyes,” is about them both wishing to go back to the past, when things were simpler…

Of course, I could be wrong, but that’s what I got out of it. ^_^

My interpretation of this is that the guy is dead. She is talking to his ghost or maybe the part of her mind that is him. She betrayed him or something and he has committed suicide because of it. In the end, he is telling her to commit suicide if she wants to make am\mends and be with him forever.

I think that the guy wants to be with her and he's basicly tried everything but hasn't got the message through to her. He thinks that the only way to really get her attention is for him to commit suicide hence closing his eyes forever. He wonders if then would she understand and consider it, or would she even care hence would it all remain the same. That's what comes to my mind. When a lot of people have relationship problems they sometimes come to the idea of suicide. And please this isn't a facebook page people. This website is made to provide info on the meaning of a song. Could we all stop posting random crap and tell what it actually means. If you don't know then don't put it on.

this song is about the guy cheating on the lady but the gal still loves the guy... the guy loves the girl also but it is a different love than the love we see in childhood movies because he loves her but he isn't going to stop cheating on her...

    My Interpretation

I have never been an OZZY fan, but we was exceptional were with Lita. As it was Lita's song, I will not look into rationale from Ozzy on the lyrics. I believe the song decribes a relationship that was once strong a vibrant, but fell apart when the woman in it started taking it for granted in some way. I am not sure what the "childhood tragedy" refers to, though it could have been either a child with another man as the father or an abortions apparently hidden from him. Throughout the song, both anguish over not being able to change the past. It may be that they are each asking themselves that, if they died, would the situation be any better for anyone, or that they wish they could simply undo the mistakes of the past. She admits to having treated him badly and having lied to him, and he admits to not being able to look past what has gone between them. The spicifics are vague, but the song is beautiful, haunting, and highly emotional with a feeling of desperation almost ready to erupt into something far worse.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
