Sometimes I feel so low
I can't go on knowin'
Here in the island log sharin' my mind
Upstairs an attic

Witness the bubble breakin' down the spine
When we come through the rain almost by design

Upstairs an attic
Upstairs an attic
Angel
Angel

Upstairs an attic
Angel
Angel

    General CommentWhat a beautiful song.
I think maybe he's saying he's sad about how everyone seems so fake, they're all just "by design."
Actually, who knows, I just made that up. This is probably something he wrote out of his personal experience, and only he will know what it means.

General CommentI see this song as someone questioning their spirituality, like "how can something like this world that at times brings me down and makes me feel low, lead to a heaven or afterlife (and attic)" the line "when we come through the rain almost by design" also kind of show that he also knows that everything turns out good, that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. he just sounds like hes questioning it, but he knows that everything in the end will be good.

Lyric CorrectionSometimes I feel so low I can't go on knowing
Hearing the howling dog sharing my moan

    Upstairs an attic

Witness the bible breaking down the spine
Wind wipping through through the rain almost by design

    Upstairs an attic
