"Alyssa Lies" as written by and Jason Michael Carroll....
My little girl met a new friend
Just the other day
On the playground at school
Between the tires and the swings

But she came home with tear-filled eyes
And she said to me, "Daddy, Alyssa lies."

Well I just brushed it off at first
'Cause I didn't know how much my little girl had been hurt
Or the things she had seen
I wasn't ready when I said, "You can tell me."

And she said

Alyssa lies to the classroom
Alyssa lies everyday at school
Alyssa lies to the teachers
As she tries to cover every bruise

My little girl laid her head down that night to go to sleep
As I stepped out the room, I heard her say a prayer so soft and sweet
"God bless my mom and my dad
And my new friend, Alyssa
I know she needs you bad."

Because Alyssa lies to the classroom
Alyssa lies everyday at school
Alyssa lies to the teachers
As she tries to cover every bruise

I had the worst night of sleep in years
As I tried to think of a way to calm her fears
I knew just what it was I had to do
But when we got to school on Monday, I heard the news

My little girl asked me why everybody looked so sad
The lump in my throat grew bigger
With every question that she asked
Until I felt the tears run down my face
And I told her that Alyssa wouldn't be at school today

'Cause she doesn't lie in the classroom
She doesn't lie anymore at school
Alyssa lies with Jesus
Because there's nothin' anyone would do

Tears filled my eyes when my little girl asked me why
Alyssa lies
Daddy, tell me why
Alyssa lies

General CommentI just re listened to this youtube. the last time i heard it i was in the car with my grandma and i started cry so hard. Just to think there are little kids who get abused everyday and cant do anything about it is so sad. We really need to do something about this. it is wrong and things need to change...

General Commenti love this song. i heard it on the radio a few days ago while i was driving and i almost had to pull over because i was crying. it is so powerful. it's amazing how kids can see things that adults sometimes don't, even if they don't understand exactly what something means, they can still know that it is wrong and that the person needs help.
    .simply amazing.

General CommentI love this song so much! Every time i listen to it i cry my eyes out. This song means so much to me because i have read a book just like the song. But instead of him dying he found help but his mother would try to get him back. Anyone who does child abuse should just go to hell with the first strike,

General CommentI totally love this song. It's so sad. But it's funny how kids can see things before adults can. Kids are just too afraid to let somebody know that something is wrong.

General CommentBasically, it is a combination of what everyone is saying.
Alyssa is a young girl in the singer's daughter's class. Alyssa is physically abused and the singer's daughter is the only one to realize and recognize this fact. Before the father can do something about it, the girl is dead. And he tells his daughter that she is in Heaven with someone who really loves her; Jesus.

This is a great awareness song!

General Comment@soccerpl1997 I understand how you feel. Seeing a child hurt or killed would be enough to make my blood boil, but before either of us write off the parent and condemn them, we need to remember that any judgement should come from the Holy Judge. Now that we have that out of the way and before we come to the conclusion that God is going to automatically condemn them to Hell, let's consider God's purpose for mankind. John 3: 16-18a says
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already.

God's purpose is not to condemn. He wants reformation not punishment. If you think Child abuse is bad consider one of the most prominent apostles. Paul who at the time went by Saul murdered Christians many times. I am not sure if children were killed, but if I am assuming correctly, if a child was a Christian, then they would be at just as high of a risk of execution. By today's standards Paul was by definition a serial killer. One of the world's worst men at the time had an experience with God and became possibly the most successful preacher for a long time and I mean Long if it ever ended. By your standard, Christianity may never have spread as fast and could possibly have died. Also remember that God has standards more strict than we do. He pays much more attention to the "small sins" than we ever do and He judges equally by His standards. If God started sending people to hell on their first strike then the Earth would be completely barren of humans. But as I said God has reformation, not punishment on His mind. We all deserve Hell, but He sent His Only Begotten Son to die for all of our sins. Yes, even child abuse is covered. If it wasn't then our God would not be doing what he said he was doing. Our God is an awesome God that can turn the worst person into the best. Next time you see a child in a spot of abuse, help the parent as well if you can. It goes over a lot better with God to forgive and help than to condemn and abandon.

Also if you can tolerate anime, you should watch Samurai X: Reflections. It is a very moving movie about an assassin who gave up killing and may make you see things differently.
