"Rise" as written by and Glen James/macconiomaire Hansard....
Breathing in the night
There's nothing else I'm needing now
The wind is at my side
And so are you

And together we will rise
With all these words and promises we couldn't keep
Together we will fly
Above it all now

But sometimes we will fall
From the night
But it shines on us tonight
And together we will rise
Together we will rise, we will rise

And surely it's a sign now
That everything's in tune to some kinda higher plan
Yeah, surely it's a sign
That you were right

And there's this secret line
That we've been denied, whoa
I'm crossing it tonight
And together we will rise, yeah
Together we will rise, we will rise

But sometimes we will fall
From the light, whoa
But it shines on us tonight
But together we will rise

Past this light
And we'll cross it here tonight
And together we will rise
Together we will rise, we will rise

General CommentIt's the most Damien Rice-ey of all their songs. I love the darkness and triumph of it all... I'm not a goth though, I swear! I really love it. It kind of reminds me of Cold Water from DR's first album. As songs, they're not very alike, but they're similar in genre, and the use of piano and strings and stuff. Just my two-cents.

General CommentI'm biased at the moment, but I think it has to do with problems in a relationship. Sure, they've both had problems committing, but finally, they've figured it out...they have the chance and they're going for it.

General CommentThis song is about rising above all of the little gripes and problems and stresses and strains in a relationship and realising that you have something special. And something that you both feel was meant to be.
