This wasn't for you. This wasn't FOR anyone. It's simply a remoke of a classic. We held hands, we shared beds. She told her that we were lovers. Were we? But this wasn't for you really, what's the cat to do when the mouse is begging? ('02)

'areyouinorareyouout? youcan'twineitherway," he said,'butthefallwillbefantasticandwhat'sleftisnothinglessthanperfection."

It's freezing, but it is the desert, what to do? maybe we'll see a body. Maybe we'll see a few. I shook, did you?

Please, sit down. May I offer you something? Anything you wish..NO NOTHING. IF YOU DON'T MIND, THIS WILL BE RECORDED...

They started far off...but they resound, as sharp as they sound. You can't mistake the sound. First the click, the the visible breath, both parting the bitting cold of the night. They came, they come in time....

Is there something I should know or have I just seen too much?

We were once together, now i'm simply surrounded.

They were perfect, they were beautiful. They met in the middle of of nowhere, in the middle of nothing, and kissed where everyone could see. No words. No before. No after. They kissed and it was perfect. it was beautiful. It was everything. It was nothing.

Eventually it all comes back to this. Eventually you have nothing else. Shame really. MAY I GET YOU SOMETHING? Give me anything.

I saw you in the picture you took with them when you were with him and I took you from it and kept you for myself. WAIT FLASH TAPE'S STILL ROLLING

The power went out. I turned on the radio. The power went out. I turned on the radio. The power went out. I turned on the radio.... I heard a voice

I don't know if this has any specific meaning or maybe they just wanted to write a bunch of weird crap in this cd book. Maybe each thought has something to do about the songs it is under

I was wondering the meaning to these, also. I was thinking that they could be lyrics that weren't made into a song, and they were a few sentences chosen by the band.

Some of the quotes kind of sound like something from an interview, but I am still puzzled as to what the hell they could mean.

    Whatever they are, they're beautiful.

i heard that the notes on the bottom are clues about the next album. see, the one that says 'i turned on the radio...etc' has at the end 'i heard a voice', the name of the new DVD.

i like them, i find them quite haunting.

ya, they have some relation to the songs. like how the last one is repeatedly being said, and the last song on the album is "endlessly, she said" and "It's freezing, but it is the desert" makes me think of the chorus of summer shudder.

i agree with akaloowanton with the summer shudder part. "i shook, did you?" reminded me of "with just a look, they shook" from miss murder. like when they looked at you they made you shudder, or shake or shook, and the desert part reminded me of summer, put together is summer shudder.

12 paragraphs, 12 songs. the 3rd paragraph just says "(date unclear)"... 0.o so wouldnt that mean it's from miss murder, and the "i shook, did you?" shrug but anyway, the missing frame and kiss and control seem obvious just by the song names. actually, im thinking the songs were maybe based on these notes?

Decemberunderground is a concept album...meaning the whole album makes up a story. Just like AFI's previous album, the story may not start on Track 1. One popular theory (and my opinion of the album) is the story of an actor (possibly the same actor from Sing the Sorrow), is recieving an interview. He tells of an affair with one of his costars, and, eventually, the interview is over, and I think the interviewer commits suicide afterward. Anyway, the actor eventually goes to the set of his movie, and kills himself onstage.

This is not my theory, rather one that I heard on AFI's forums. I think it's a pretty solid theory, and my description was pretty bare-bones (the original description was much more in-depth, interpreting every little nuance of the songs), but...it's something to think about.

This album is incredibly inspiring. Even though I enjoy earlier, more punk-based AFI material, this album is one of my favorite CDs. Great job guys!

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
