Should i decide it's true
that you would leave if given half the chance to go and
i'd be left here on my own
to find myself in bed
wishing everything that changed would be the same

the room still looks like you
it's a mess and all the pictures on the shelf are
dusted off by someone else
to keep me company
i haven't told her that your thought still lingers on

everyday's another chance to bury my regret
everyday's another chance to make it but i can't
but i can't

i saw you on my phone
on a contact list that isn't up to date
would have changed it with more time
that i require to
rid my mind of all the freckles on your face

and reconcile to what?
the ring i bought you is buried deep within the ground
behind the swing where we first met
and memory only serves
to remind of all the bruises you forgave

should i decide it's true
that you'd return if given half the chance to come....

but it's not true

ok so i kinda disagree with the whole ex-gf theory...i mean yes, the relationship is over...that's a given...but i'm leaning more toward the cause being death. this is due to the fact that he is living with a memory. the first line of the song drove this point home for me. "Should I decide it’s true? That you might leave if given half the chance to go and I be left here on my own, to find myself in bed, wishing everything that changed would be the same." clearly, his memory is keeping her alive and he is in charge of the "decision" to keep her around. Also in the lines, "Room still looks like you, it’s a mess and all the pictures on the shelf, dusted off by someone else, to keep me company, having told her that your thoughts still linger on." only in a situation similar to a death would another woman respect and accept that their partner still has feelings for their previous lover.

just a hunch...who knows...just listen to the song with that concept in mind. there are several subtle hints that suggests that she has passed.

beyond amazing. perfect. i can't stop listening. obviously a relationship is over and he's regretting it...he wants her back, even though he already has someone else.

some of the lyrics to this song are wrong

it should be "it's a mess" instead of "its so nice"

this song is obviously about a past relationship with a girl he's still inlove with and wants back, but has someone already. hes not being completely honest with the girl by keeping her in the dark about his past relationship

I feel like this song kind of hits you in a way you might not expect at first until you really give it a good listen.

I agree with jrlaffrey that this song is most likely about a relationship that's ended but reason is probably death.

Either way it's a beautiful song. Fitzsimmons is an amazing writer.

I'm gonna take it a step further

'THE BRUISES YOU FORGAVE...' There was physical abuse in the relationship-- probably the cause of her leaving and/or death? ''Everyday's another chance to bury my regret...'' He is clearly sorry. And the repeated use of the word 'BURY' and 'A memory on this EARTH' [Which she is no longer on] gives a hint that she is infact dead.

He is in a relationship ''Dusted off by someone else...'' He isn't disclosing who the someone else is, hesitant because he is clearly still inlove with his ex and thinks she can hear him when he speaks. He goes further 'to keep my company' almost like he shruggng off his current girlfriend as a friend.

I LOVE WILLIAM FITZSIMMONS!!! I NEED TO SEE HIM LIVE. LET ME KNOW WHEN HE IS IN CALIFORNIA!!! :)

    My Opinion

I agree with those who say this song is about a relationship that ended because the other person died.

I think the part about the bruises, though, isn't literal. The bruises are probably all the stuff he did that hurt her.

It's really sad. The regret and the denial. Makes the song so much more beautiful :)

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
