"You'll never get to me" as written by and Gill Coleman....
OH!

Sea of Hurt
I feel the waves of pain
And now the tides
Coming in again
I'm caught in vicious cycle of despair
Give me the courage to face another day

OH!

o, sing a song of joy
Sweet childhood
Never desert me
Time for celebration
OH!
Overcome with a sense of elation
I'll never let you get to me
Survival is my victory
Time for celebration
OH!
Overcome with a sense of elation

I sat in silence
I was mourning
Said sorry
A thousand times
I cried aloud to God
For all my failings
But God seemed deaf as well as blind

o, sing a song of joy
Sweet childhood
Never desert me
Time for celebration
OH!
Overcome with a sense of elation
I'll never let you get to me
Survival is my victory
Time for celebration
OH!
Overcome with a sense of elation

we drank and smoked and talked until the dawn
Shared our problems and our food
Telling tales of courage and resolution
Through all the hardships we've endured

OH!

o, sing a song of joy
Sweet childhood
Never desert me
Time for celebration
OH!
Overcome with a sense of elation
I'll never let you get to me
Survival is my victory
Time for celebration
OH!
Overcome with a sense of elation

General CommentHappiness and sadness. Nostalgia. Hiding from responsibiliy and pain in religion is no answer. the only way to get through life and see it as a success is to live it. that's what i get.

General CommentThe obvious reaction to most of life's perils is to despair. This song however is about powering through this and finding hope, and celebrating good times / memories and commiserating over the bad with friends and family.

You celebrate life itself and the will to carry on. Never let it get to you :)
