Aus den Ruinen meiner Träume
Seh` ich mich am Abgrund stehen
Wie ein ausgestoß`ner Engel
Ohne Augen um zu sehen

Zu sehen was die Zukunft bringt
Was die Vergangenheit mir nahm
Was mir auf meinem Weg zum Glück
In die Quere kam

Wo komm` ich her
Wo geh` ich hin
Wie geb` ich all dem einen Sinn

Wo komm` ich her
Wo geh` ich hin
Wann weiß ich, wer ich bin

Aus den Ruinen meiner Träume
Seh` ich mich ins Unglück laufen
Und alles wofür ich einst stand
Für Asche zu verkaufen

Das Schicksal meinte es nicht gut
Meinen Weg hab` ich verloren
Aus den Ruinen meiner Träume
Werd` ich neu geboren

Wo komm` ich her
Wo kommst Du hier
Wo geh` ich hin
Wo gehst Du hin
Wie geb` ich all dem
Du gibst all dem
Wie einen Sinn

Wo komm` ich her
Wo geh` ich hin
Wie geb` ich all dem einen Sinn

Wo komm` ich her
Wo geh` ich hin
Wann weiß ich, wer ich bin

Was auch immer kommen mag
Es wird bestimmt ein Morgen geben
Und auch wunderbare Dinge
Für die es lohnt zu leben

Wo komm` ich her
Wo geh` ich hin
Wie geb` ich all dem einen Sinn

Wo komm` ich her
Wo geh` ich hin
Wann weiß ich, wer ich bin

    "Where"

From the ruins of my dreams I see myself standing in an abyss Like a fallen angel without eyes to see

To see what the future will bring What the past has taken What is on the horizon on my path to happiness

Where'd I come from? Where am I going? What gives everything it's purpose? Where'd I come from? Where am I going? When will I know who I am?

From the ruins of my dreams I see myself walking through sadness And all that I once stood for Has been sold for ashes

Destiny is holding nothing good I've lost my way From the ruins of my dreams I'll be reborn

Where'd I come from? (Where'd you come from?) Where am I going? (Where are you going?) What gives everything it's purpose? Where'd I come from? Where am I going? When will I know who I am?

Where'd I come from? Where am I going? What gives everything it's purpose? Where'd I come from? Where am I going? When will I know who I am?

This always brought me joy: There's always a new dawn and every wonderful thing Is why it pays to live

Where'd I come from? Where am I going? What gives everything it's purpose? Where'd I come from? Where am I going? When will I know who I am?

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
