"Long Trip Alone" as written by Steve Bogard, Brett Beavers and Dierks Bentley....
It's a long trip alone over sand and stone
That lie along the road that we all must travel down

So maybe you could walk with me a while
And maybe I could rest beneath your smile
Everybody stumbles sometimes and needs a hand to hold
'Cause it's a long trip alone

It's a short piece of time but just enough to find
A little peace of mind under the sun somewhere

So maybe you could walk with me a while
And maybe I could rest beneath your smile
You know we can't afford to let one moment pass us by
'Cause it's a short piece of time

And I don't know where I'd be without you here
'Cause I'm not really me without you there

Yeah, yeah
Hallelujah, hallelujah, oh

So maybe you could walk with me a while
Maybe I could rest beneath your smile
Everybody stumbles sometimes and needs a hand to hold

So maybe you could walk with me a while
Maybe I could rest beneath your smile
Maybe I could feel right beside you till I'm home
'Cause it's a long trip alone, a long trip alone

General CommentDierks is so hot, with or without the curls. : )
This song is awesome. I love the chorus and the line "Maybe I could rest beneath your smile"
It's such a cute song. And the music video is so fitting and really adds to the song's meaning.

General CommentAm I the only one who thinks about "the Lord's footsteps"?

It's Bentley that makes this song so amazing. I hope no one ever covers it - it isn't a cover is it?

General CommentAt first, I felt that this song meant that life is long and hard wihtout someone to spend it with, but the more I listen to it, the more religion I find in it...

General CommentIn an interview with Dial-Globe he said the song started off about his wife but then became about all the people in your life. By the end, he said, it became more of a prayer.
I absolutely love this song with Bentley singing it. It can be related to so many aspects and people in your life.

General Commenti got a question.... is he gay in the video? because at the end when he gets home, he plays his answering machine and some guy says "hey honey..."

General Commenthe is so not gay. gosh. you're nuts. i think its his voice and he just returned home and all the stuff in his house that he probably shared with his girlfriend is missing and he was trying to get ahold of her in mexico or wherever he was.. and he was leaving the message for her.. i would assume that what it is supposed to be.

    i miss his curls too.:(

General Commentyeah-- beccamck26 is right. i think it is his voice. he left her to go to prison or whatever. he must have called her is prison. and when he got home.. he checked the messages-- it was him. and he realized that she hasnt checked them since he has been gone. =[.
