"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
I've wasted time following the rules and
Staying in the lines of what I thought was living
And I've found myself standing at the edge
And proudly turned away thinking I was winning
But tell me fear what have I gained from listening to your lies
Let me be, just this once I wanna feel the fire inside
I don't wanna go back
I don't wanna go back
I don't wanna go back to the way that it was before this
Life in technicolor
Now that future is the past and
Everything I feared turned to beauty
And all the pain that led me here, turns out
It was a gift sent to heal me
So tell me fear what have I gained from listening to your lies
Let me be, from now on I wanna feel the fire inside
I don't wanna go back
I don't wanna go back
I don't wanna go back to the way that it was before this
Life in technicolor
I don't wanna go back
I don't wanna go back
I don't wanna go back to the way that it was before this
Life in technicolor
Open up your eyes
Breathe it in
Let it fill you
Take your breath away
Light the night sky
Within you
I don't wanna go back to the way that it was before this
Life in technicolor
Staying in the lines of what I thought was living
And I've found myself standing at the edge
And proudly turned away thinking I was winning
But tell me fear what have I gained from listening to your lies
Let me be, just this once I wanna feel the fire inside
I don't wanna go back
I don't wanna go back
I don't wanna go back to the way that it was before this

Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
these lyrics are beautiful
The lyrics are poetry.<br /> <br /> "and wednesday i hung from a tree <br /> hoping that you'd notice me,<br /> that you'd bathe all my wounds in your tears<br /> and shower me with sympathy."<br /> <br /> Such incredible lyrics. We can all relate to this at somepoint in our lives.<br />
this song is so sad. i think that two people were once married, "and put my old wedding ring on," but they eventually broke up. he was really in love with her, and he couldnt take the divorce, so he tried killing himself, but never succeeded: "and wednesday i hung from a tree" "with these pills piled high on my plate, so i swallow each one in a haze."
he wanted her to notice him at least one more time; he thought his life was already hell, so if he died it couldn't get any worse. "southbound is heaven, the city of sin."
"she says, 'i'm sorry, my darling. time stole the joy we were hiding. i am in love and this baby is yours.'"
this i'm not sure about, but i think she fell in love with someone else, but she was having a child with him. the divorce and such was what the time was, and the baby was what it was hiding.
"and i don't wanna live in this light. let your darkness just cover my eyes. and i'm trying to get myself clean, but it's all i can do to just scream."
but he couldn't take her being with another man and having his child, but to help her out he's trying to fix himself up and stay clean, but inside his life is still a wreck.
and thursday was harder to take with these pills piled high on my plate, so i swallow each one in a haze. in a cascade of light, i was saved.
Those lines just kill me. He justs sounds like he's so tired of being saved from death when his life is just so much worse.
It's one of those heart wrenching songs that just makes you teary eyed.
I think the line is "as this credit card shuttered your eyes"
or "as this credit card shut up your eyes"
this band has some of the mot freakin beautiful lyrics.
I dunnoooo ive seen some lyrics sites post "credit card shoved up your ass" like saying since she went to new york she wasnt bout to blow her money on all the expensive things there or something. I dont see much relevance to either of the eye ones but then again we dont really know why they went to new york 1 final time either. I havent heard the song in a while though so maybe its eyes i dont know if all the lyirc sites are right
I always thought it was "As his credit card shut up your eyes", implying she left him for a wealthier man.
Incredible. These lyrics tear at my body. And at the last line I just lose it.
I think it's.. "Monday I drifted away with some coffee to keep me awake and you saw New York one final time as this credit card shut up your eyes."
and I believe instead of "and i don't wanna live in this light." it's "and I don't wanna live in this lie."
Super amazing song, the lyrics are so brilliant. Absolutely adore this band.
It bothers me that several of the lyrics for this band are just blatantly to the wrong song.
